While we are still hard at work creating our largest single-themed land expansions ever, I have some exciting news to share today. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and in late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort, when guests will land in the middle of the action as they live their own Star Wars stories.

In the meantime, take a look at this incredible sneak peek at these new immersive lands which I’m excited to share here on the Disney Parks Blog for the first time!

  • Remember late fall is any day up until December 20th so best to book in 2020 if you want to see this new world!

  • Can anyone let me know if we can be notified when we can book ??? My son is a Star Wars fiend … could say Padme Amadala when he was 2 !!!

  • I’m going to give it a year. Work all the bugs out and then…………kick my son’s butt in a light sabre duel.

  • I can’t wait for this to open, I hope to make reservations as soon as possible.

  • I Do not think Ive ever been more excited for something in my life, Ive been waiting for this for so long.

  • We just left Disney World. We were told the it will be open, both the Starwars Park and the Starwars Resort next fall. The patrons staying at the resort will able to walk out of the resort right into the park. You won’t be able to see out of the windows of the hotel because they don’t want you to be able to see the massive park below. You will se seems on the windows from in the rooms

  • I tried to book Pop Century for anytime between Mid September and Mid November next year, but, there is absolutely nothing. I wonder how many are going simply for Galaxy’s Edge and will cancel if it isn’t open when they are booked to be there. I’m hoping some will as I am happy to be there if it isn’t, still lots to do. I can wait until 2020 as I have a Disneyland visit planned and the lands are supposed to be identical.

  • I’ve read from another Disney traveler that they saw signs at Hollywood Studios stating “Coming in 2020”.

  • These comments are hilarious. This is Disney. They don’t open unless it is done and done right. The best way to plan a Disney trip around something like this, is to plan it after you know the exact dates. These openings can and do get pushed. This land is a massive undertaking. It isnt just a new ride, it is an entirely new land that is ginormous.

  • If Galaxy’s Edge is not predicted to open until at least Thanksgiving week, if not later, I think it would help everyone if you changed “Late Fall” to “Christmas time” or “The Festive Season”. “Late Fall” is unhelpfully ambiguous. I think it is guaranteed to cause a substantial (and ever increasing) amount of disappointment the longer it remains Disney’s official position.

  • When will Star Wars land open? Waiting to make my reservations.

  • Late fall? I’m on the edge since I have booked for the middle of Oct. Spill it Mickey..what is late fall to your bosses?

  • As per above comments please can you advise what calendar period Disney regards “late fall” constitutes and advise when you expect to know the actual opening date as a matter of urgency.

  • Will you be hosting a special night event for the opening?

  • Hello

  • I would like to know for passport holders in 2019: What types of restrictions you have planned and please explain “ block out dates” different for certain days. Does this mean that pass holders may not be able to park hop on the same visit or are you planning to change the passports again? Mine renews in August 2018, will your new plans affect my renewal?
    Thanks

  • Darn my husband is in the military and he just got new orders so we are moving right before summer!! I’ve been waiting for this!! It looks amazing thank you for the update 🙂

  • I’m not planning on visiting either until 2020 to let everything settle down. I might make one middle of the week trip to Disneyland next summer, but feel like it is best to wait. If the opening is staggered like Pixar Pier has been, then there really is no way to be 100% sure what you want to go on or see will be open. Now to figure out how to move into the Millennium Falcon.

  • Sweeeet!!!!! Super stoked to use my pass daily next summer at DLR, maybe I will even book to go to WDW in November 2019 Galaxy’s edge and food festival at Epcot! 🙂

  • Really hoping that the one in Disneyland opens in May/Early June. My 10th Wedding Anniversary is June 13th and we were planning to go to WDW, but we can go to Disneyland instead!

  • Is this a definite????
We’ve booked for September 2019 purposely for Star Wars cause it was suppose to be open summer 2019. My kids and hubby will be gutted?! Thanks Kelly

  • Sweet know that i know i can plan my vacation..

  • Great. Planning to go in summer 2019 to Walt Disney World for two weeks specifically to experience Galaxy’s Edge, only to hear it won’t be open in time. Disappointed.

  • Do you know when in late fall, we are planning to book our holiday especially to go to galaxy edge

  • Sounds great! Hopefully it will be completed in November in time for the 2019 RunDisney Wine and Dine 1/2 marathon weekend. Fingers crossed!

  • Please take your time to get it right.

  • Thanks for the update Scott.
It’s going to be a very exciting summer at Disneyland. Not to mention busy, which is why I’m glad that Disneyland is making so many improvements to its walkways in anticipation of the summer 2019 opening.

  • What is the definition of late fall? I was planning a trip arriving on the 13th Nov and staying for 2 weeks. Could it be that it wont open until December?
