Our #DisneyParksLIVE stream of this year’s Tour de Turtles at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort has concluded.
This annual event brought cheers for Trixie and Mrs. Potato Head, two loggerhead turtles named by Disney Parks Blog readers in honor of the recent opening of Toy Story Land at the Walt Disney World Resort. When the two turtles nested on the beach earlier that morning, conservation specialists attached satellite transmitters to their shells before the turtles headed out into the ocean. The team will follow the turtles over the next few months to learn more about their habits at sea that may hold the key to their survival. As part of Disney’s overall commitment to sea turtle conservation, the team regularly monitors sea turtle nesting activity on several miles of beach near Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, which happens to be one of the most active sea turtle nesting areas in Florida.
Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog in the coming weeks for future updates. In the meantime, watch the replay of this morning’s event above.
