Experience Quintessential Quebec with Disney Cruise Line

This fall, Disney Cruise Line will embark on two brand-new Canada itineraries, and these special sailings will feature three first-time ports in Quebec!

What I love most about introducing new destinations to our cruises is the opportunity to develop a robust catalog of thrilling, enriching and entertaining Port Adventures to help our guests make lifelong memories together at port. Today, I want to share a few of my favorite excursions in these new exciting destinations …

Quebec City
Nestled in the Saint Lawrence River valley, Quebec City is in many ways reminiscent of France — expect to find endless European charm and famous French-inspired cuisine in this unique city.

One of my favorite Port Adventures here is Historic Quebec with Montmorency Falls. This one is packed with must-see landmarks and breathtaking photo ops, including the historic Place-Royale square, the iconic Château Frontenac hotel and the picturesque countryside of Quebec. This storybook adventure ends with the truly unforgettable experience of gazing upon Montmorency Falls, an impressive waterfall that’s even taller than Niagara!

For an unexpected cultural adventure, I suggest a visit to the Native American village of Wendake. During the Huron-Wendake Village and Onhoua Chetek8e excursion, you’ll be immersed in the beliefs, customs and lifestyle of the Huron people as you’re personally guided through their home and history.

We’ve even hand-picked a few tantalizing tours especially for food and drink enthusiasts. The Quebec City Food Tour is a fabulous food crawl across Old Quebec, where you will sample a dozen delicious French-Canadian dishes of historical and cultural significance at local restaurants. Just for adults, the Microbrewery Tour offers the chance to try the city’s best local drafts at a handful of microbreweries in trendy Saint-Roch district.

Saguenay
This pristine hideaway harbors rich wildlife, rugged mountains, abundant forests and the only fjord in North America inhabited on both shores. Saguenay is well-known as a vibrant historic settlement flush with French heritage, museums and art galleries, cultural delights and mouthwatering cuisine.

The aptly named Best of Saguenay Port Adventure offers a stellar lineup of attractions. This scenic trip first takes you to the Saguenay Fjord, where you will discover the history and mystery of the natural wonder’s creation during a visit to The Fjord Museum. From there, you’ll dive further into the area’s rich history with visits to a historic paper mill, a thriving family wool business and the home of renowned painter Arthur Villeneuve.

Thrill-seekers will want to opt for an excursion that puts them right in the water among the high cliffs of Cape Trinity, the most impressive cape in the fjord. You can explore these deep, mysterious waters that are teeming with wildlife (seals and whales are common!) during Zodiac Adventure at Saguenay and Sea Kayaking in Saguenay.

Those guests looking for a more relaxing and indulgent way to experience this port will find their sweet spot at the Microbrewery and Vineyard tour, where local spirits and beers are flavored with local ingredients like blueberries and maple.

Baie-Comeau
This young, bustling city is set in a spectacular natural landscape marked by a deep bay, rushing rivers, dense forest, glacial retreats and the tremendous Manicouagan Crater.

For an enriching, hands-on excursion that will captivate the entire family, Experience Glacier and Shell Valley takes you on a journey from the last ice age to the present. The first stop is Garden of Glaciers, a multi-sensory experience where you’ll virtually explore a glacier from top to bottom as you learn how the movement of ice created today’s world. Then you’ll head to Seashell Valley, a remarkable geological site where you can dig up piles of seashells — the remnants of an ancient sea — in the middle of a forest!

To immerse yourself in local customs, make Baie-Comeau Heritage your pick. Start with a stop at the Saint-Pancrace harbor for a quick photo op at this beautiful, isolated lookout before continuing on to experience life in a lumberjack town. Watch how wood is cut, hauled, driven and prepared, then savor a traditional, hearty lumberjack meal of baked beans, bear pooh (a local chocolate and coconut dessert) and a local cocktail called Caribou.

And if it’s sightseeing you seek, try the Baie-Comeau Historical Walking Tour for a leisurely look at this quaint town, including tours of Sainte-Amélie Church, and end the day on a sweet note with local cake and traditional tea at Baie-Comeau’s most famous hotel.
