Five Reasons Bermuda Should be at the Top of Your Travel Bucket List

Everyone has one. Whether it’s a long lineup of global landmarks and wonders, or a short wish list of cities and countries, we all have a mental bucket list of “must-go” travel destinations.

Many of the most popular inclusions — like Rome, Alaska and the Norwegian fjords — are already featured on Disney Cruise Line itineraries, and this fall we are adding an exciting new hot spot worthy of a place on everyone’s list.

Off the east coast of the United States, Bermuda is 21 square miles of paradise on earth, imbued with its own eclectic culture and vibrant history. Here are five simple reasons this unrivaled island nation should be at the top of your travel bucket list…

1. Say it with me: Pink. Sand. Beaches.
Bermuda’s idyllic coastline offers countless made-for-Instagram beaches, but just wait until you sink your toes into the soft, luxurious pink sand along the island’s south shore at places like the famous Horseshoe Bay Beach.

2. Remarkable Reefs
Bermuda boasts numerous exquisite coral reefs in relatively shallow water with nearly unlimited visibility. If you’ve always wanted to try snorkeling, this is the place to do it.

3. Fairytale Ruins
The island’s famed Unfinished Church is well worth the uphill trek required to reach it. Construction of this gothic beauty was abandoned before the ceiling was built, leaving behind fanciful, open-air ruins seemingly straight out of a fairytale book.

4. Gorgeous Historical Gems
While ashore, you can wander the winding streets, gardens and plazas of the historic British settlement of St. George, marvel at the 17th-century beauty of St. Peter’s Church and stroll across the centuries-old Somerset Bridge, known as the world’s smallest drawbridge.

5. World-Class Shopping
The capital city of Hamilton is a shopping mecca, and throughout the island you can find designer brands, artwork, blown glass, locally produced handicrafts and… need I even say it? Bermuda shorts for the whole family!

I didn’t even mention the breathtaking boat rides, Royal Naval Dockyard or one-of-a-kind golf courses, but you’ll have plenty of time to experience it all when you sail to Bermuda aboard the Disney Magic this fall. Each itinerary includes at least two days docked at King’s Wharf, Bermuda, and the sailings also feature spooktacular Halloween on the High Seas events!
