This past winter, the groundbreaking hyper-reality experience Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID launched to rave reviews at both Disney Springs and Downtown Disney District. Today, we’re thrilled to let you know that another hyper-reality experience from a beloved Disney universe is on its way: a one-of-a-kind, original adventure based on the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Ralph Breaks the Internet” in theaters November 21.

Beginning this fall, Ralph Breaks VR will put you inside a new multi-sensory Disney adventure where you’ll be immersed in the worlds of the internet and online gaming with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope. To create Ralph Breaks VR and future hyper-reality experiences that allow you to explore amazing worlds and engage with favorite characters, The Walt Disney Company and ILMxLAB (Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment division) are again collaborating with the team at The VOID.

“Our filmmakers and the terrific people at ILMxLAB have collaborated to bring an incredible hyper-real experience, for all ages, to The VOID,” said Oscar-winning “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer, Clark Spencer. “We can’t wait for people to be immersed in the worlds of the internet and online gaming with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope.”

“At ILMxLAB, we are truly excited for fans to ‘Step Inside Our Stories’ by extending our award-winning creative collaboration with The VOID across The Walt Disney Company. Together, we will soon invite guests into other beloved Disney franchises where they can explore rich worlds, engage with compelling characters, embark upon heart-pounding adventures, and indulge the senses — experiencing the magic as never before,” said Vicki Dobbs Beck, ILMxLAB Executive in Charge.

Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for more details, including the launch date for Ralph Breaks VR and details about future Disney-inspired hyper-reality experiences – as well as locations, trailers and ticket availability. Can’t wait until this fall? Tickets for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire are on sale now at

  • Does anyone know how long the experience is? trying to plan around other reservations.
    Thanks so much!

  • Too bad disneyquest didn’t get renovated as a 4 floor open world VR experience. Void star wars was great but I can’t wait to see another bump in VR tech.

  • I will be monitoring. Need tickets for December for Ralph Breaks VR @ WDW!

  • Hi, yes, I have the same question as Tim about the age limit for this experience. What is the reason for the minimum age of 10 years old at the Void? Also, how far out can you buy tickets for the experience once Wreck-it-Ralph goes live? We are planning a family trip for January 2019.

  • Can you clarify if both Star Wars and Wreck it Ralph will run in Disney Springs? Also Star Wars has an age restriction of 10 years old, will Wreck it Ralph see a similar age restriction?

  • My family did the Star Wars VOID during our WDW vacation in May. It truly was like nothing else we have ever experienced! In fact, we all had difficulty explaining to everyone at home just how amazing it was! Truly not to be missed!
Makes us very excited for Ralph Breaks VR!!

  • @ Brittany: This will almost certainly take place in the existing “The VOID” spaces in Anaheim’s Downtown Disney and Orlando’s Disney Springs. As these spaces are currently presenting the Star Wars VR experience, the real question (as Brian already asked) is whether Ralph is a full-on replacement for Star Wars, or if both experiences will now be offered. I assume Star Wars will have to be retired, but since 90+% of the experience takes place in a headset, anything’s possible.

  • Will the Star Wars Void experience close at either Disney location to make room for Ralph VR experience or will they both run concurrently?

    • Hi Brian, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will not be going away. Keep checking back here for updates.

  • Any word on where this will be located? It sounds awesome, can’t wait to experience it.
