New Pedestrian Bridge Added to New Parking Structure at Disneyland Resort

As we announced last year, a new 6,500-space parking structure is currently under construction near the Mickey & Friends structure at the Disneyland Resort. We are pleased to share the project is starting to take shape and it will now also feature a new pedestrian bridge over Magic Way.

This new bridge will connect visitors from the parking structure—over Magic Way— to the rest of the resort, allowing guests the option to stroll through the Downtown Disney District to the theme parks’ Main Entrance. In addition, the new bridge eliminates the foot traffic crossing the street at Disneyland Drive and Magic Way, providing not only convenience, but also greater pedestrian safety and better traffic circulation.

Set to be completed next year, these parking and transportation enhancements—along with other existing parking options throughout the resort area—are designed to dramatically improve parking and traffic flow. The new parking structure is expected to significantly speed up guest arrival by providing a 60 percent increase in the number of access lanes and by adding parking capacity on the west side of the resort. In addition, the tram boarding area will be reconfigured to enhance the transportation experience for guests parking at both the new structure and Mickey & Friends.

We look forward to sharing more updates soon on the Disney Parks Blog!

  • After the new bridge crosses Magic Way, where will it terminate to drop off guests? In the Downtown Disney parking lot? At the monorail station? Somewhere inside Downtown Disney District itself? Please advise. And thank you so much for the plussing!

  • Curious on how many more people will use this entrance. Would an increase in lines entering Disneyland via the Monorail detract from some of the value of staying at the Disneyland Hotel? Our stay at the Disneyland Hotel was expensive, but easy and quick access to Disneyland was an added value.

  • Unfortunately I don’t think the number in the morning will change. It’s like the parking structure, it backs up so early because they only have one cast member working both sides instead of having two per booth and having the last 3 or 4 lanes not operating. Now that’s fine during the week but on a Saturday it should be fully operational earlier so the Anaheim PD doesn’t have to block off the lanes to the structure so early\frequently imo.

  • We just need Disney to move the electric vehicle parking that’s no longer accessible on Chip & Dale to the Daisy Level so that more than 14 cars can recharge while at the parks. There really needs to be about 200 spaces now versus what we have currently available. Just trying to be eco friendly these days.

  • That Bridge is so needed. Great news

  • This is the best news!!! We use the enterance in DTD all the time. With this new enhancement, will security screening be increased? In the mornings, there are sometimes just 2 or 3 cast members there.
