Forbes Travel Guide today unveiled its annual Star Rating list, naming Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort as a new Forbes Travel Guide Star Award winner. If you have visited this hotel, you know how very special it is – and the industry experts agree! As a Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Hotel, it marks the first time the craftsman-style retreat has received this honor and it is the only hotel in Anaheim to earn this distinction.

How do they choose the best of the best? Forbes Travel Guide’s anonymous inspectors scoured the globe in search of the top luxury experiences to discover the world’s best hotels, restaurants and spas to determine the 2019 Star Award winners. The only way to get a Star Rating is by earning it through Forbes Travel Guide’s independent inspection process. Their inspectors check into hotels and pose as ordinary guests. Once there, they test up to 900 objective, exacting standards that address even the smallest details.

  • We have stayed at the Grand Californian many times over the years and it is not only the best hotel experience in Anaheim, but it is also one of our favorite places to visit and stay. I often visit the Disney Parks solo and I always make time to go visit the absolutely goregeous lobby. The amenities and service are top notch. Napa Rose is our favorite restaurant and the Hearthstone Lounge is a must visit after the parks close. The hotel architecture is amazing, the landscaping is immaculate, the flow of the structures is exquisite and on top of it all the hotel transforms during the Christmas Holiday season. Truly it is a well deserved award. Bravo to the imagineers and architects who designed the beautiful hotel, bravo to the management, housekeepers, food servers and bartenders, front desk, bell hops, valets, security, concierge, gift shop staff, spa staff, maintenance staff, EVERYONE. We always have a top notch experience at this hotel. One of my favorite things about the hotel is the absolutely stunning lighting. Tiffany inspired lamps grace this hotel EVERYWHERE. The beautiful desk lamps at the front desk are my favs, but even the firefly lamps near the walkways are a wonderful accent to the experience. The synthesized cricket noises after dusk always make us smile.
We love this hotel so much that we purchased much of the craftsman styled furniture that was replaced during the last hotelrenovation. In our bedrooms we have not one, not two, but THREE of the beautiful bed headboards with the build in crafstman lights, two night stands, a dresser with build in mini fridge and tv console, a day bed(with lots of the beautiful accent pillows), several desk chairs, two mirrors with lights, a beautiful ceiling light and several wall sconce lights. Since we cannot live at the hotel we can at least try to recreate the experience at home, right? Keep up the good work everyone, bravo!

  • Congratulations to the staff and management of the Disney Grand Californian. Every year since The Grand opened, with the exception of a couple of years when work took priority, my family has stayed at this hotel. The service has always been impeccable, friendly and helpful. The Forbes Star Award is well deserved. The magic begins when you drive up to the front doors and stays with you throughout your visit.
