Moms Panel Monday: Mom and Dad, Can you Please Take Us on a Disney Cruise?

We recently received a question on the Disney Parks Moms Panel from a young man desperate for our assistance.

It seems this teenager was eager to set sail on the high seas with his family, but was being told no by mom and dad when he requested a Disney Cruise for their next vacation. Sadly, they believed there would not be enough for adults to enjoy on a Disney cruise ship. This young man turned to the Disney Parks Moms Panelists, and our Disney Cruise Line specialists joined forces to help this son plead his case.

So, is there really an adult side to a Disney cruise? Oh, let us count the waves …

First, let’s begin with the Quiet Cove Pool and sun decks where only adults are permitted. “These areas give you quiet, relaxing and refreshing time in the sun without splashing,” explained Angie G. “They even include hot tubs and bar service!”

Next, on a Disney Cruise mom and dad can definitely find free time while the kids are playing. Your kids might even tell you, they have plans for the day, that might not include you.

“Disney Cruise Line entertains our kids so much that while they are having the time of their lives in the Kid’s Club, my husband and I take the time to enjoy some of the adult-exclusive spaces onboard!” Marcy said. “An example would be us hanging out in Cove Cafe with a specialty coffee as we sailed through the Caribbean. It was so relaxing.”

If an itinerary calls for a stop at Castaway Cay, Disney’s own private island, this young man’s parents might want to enjoy the day at Serenity Bay, an exclusive adults-only beach. The calm movement of the water is the perfect backdrop for a quiet, peaceful day. There are even hammocks, lounge chairs and private cabanas to rent.

The panelists all felt the young man should definitely let his mom know about Senses Spa & Salon. Senses offers spa and massage services for those Guests 18 years of age and older. While additional fees apply, mom will enjoy access to massages, sauna, hot tubs, warm stone loungers and the fabulous rainforest room.

If mom and dad would like a dinner alone, Angie suggested making dinner reservations at Palo or Remy. (Remy is available only on Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream.) “These both are AMAZING dining experiences. Authentic Italian and French cuisine with a quiet, relaxing dining atmosphere… who could ask for more?” asked Angie.

Adults 18 and older may dine at either of these two locations. Reservations are required and there is an additional fee for dining. Angie finds it a highlight of her cruise, as she truly feels like she is dining in Italy when she eats at Palo.

It’s important to remember that adults traveling with children have these great opportunities because of all the fun Youth Clubs and activities onboard. Parents will also take joy in the fact that the Youth Clubs are available for no additional cost!

“Your kiddos can enjoy their own personal, unique vacation with great interactive youth counselors to care for them while you enjoy some ‘grown up’ time, both onboard the ship and at port,” Angie explained.

“At the end of the day, the No. 1 reason we wouldn’t sail with anyone but Disney is the service and entertainment!” explained Marcy. “Disney is an entertainment company. So, whether sailing with the kids or alone, we know that we’ll be treated to top-notch service and entertainment that is beyond compare – and it’s not all Disney shows. Their onboard variety acts have been some of our favorites, for both the family shows and when they perform later at night for adults only. With the adult-exclusive spaces all around the ship, we sometimes forget there are even kids onboard… though not our own, of course!”

We hope we have helped this young man and that he will soon be vacationing on a Disney Cruise Line ship. And remember we are here for you, too, to help plan your next Disney cruise!
