Trick or treat! Disneyland Resort is bringing a new event to guests of all ages this Halloween season: Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure park. This separate-ticket party treats guests to multiple new experiences that are fun for the entire family, from the new “World of Color” spectacular – “Villainous!,” to an interactive “Descendants”-inspired dance party, a stage show with Mickey Mouse, and a mysterious Disney villains walk-through experience.
Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will add to the fun of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, celebrated from Sept. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019.
Highlights of the new separate-ticket event include:
- “Villainous!” – The new “World of Color” show weaves a Halloween tale about a young girl named Shelley Marie. This twisted tale carries Shelley on an unforgettable journey, exploring the villainous side of Disney characters through fountains, lights, lasers, projections and special effects. “Villainous!” shows that, deep down, there’s a little villain in all of us.
- Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – Transformed into a wondrous and ethereal world of Disney villains unlike anything seen before, Redwood Creek will be tricked out in a dreamlike environment. This new experience unfolds in a series of scenes, each creating a hauntingly beautiful dream-space of color, sound, light
and shadows, as stories emerge from the darkest night to create an enchanting world. - Immersive Treat Trails – Enjoy trick-or-treating at the new, wonderfully wicked treat trails throughout the park. Iconic characters such as Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” or even Oogie Boogie himself will surprise and delight. Additional treat trails will feature oversized cauldrons full of treats for all guests to enjoy.
DescenDance – A new pulsing party in the Backlot area of Hollywood Land is inspired by the popular “Descendants” franchise from Disney Channel. As theDescenDance begins, a spell iscast , summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost to throw down and lead everyone in moves that are set to the biggest hit songs from the “Descendants” movies.- “Frightfully Fun Parade” – The guest-favorite parade is coming to Disney California Adventure park for the first time! The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow starts the procession, followed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who lead the cavalcade of characters and many mischievous Disney villains who are ready to stir up some trouble along the parade route.
- Mickey’s Trick and Treat show – Perfect for young guests, this new, interactive stage production invites kids of all ages to join Mickey Mouse and his pals as they throw a one-of-a-kind Halloween party! Enjoy dancing, not-so-frightening scary-tales, and candy at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
- Character encounters – Meet beloved Disney characters – and villains, too. You may be surprised at who you discover at this Halloween party, ready for photos and greetings!

Entry to Disney California Adventure park before the party is included with an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket. The after-hours party begins at 6 p.m. PT and you will have the opportunity to play in the park for three hours before the event starts on Tuesday and Thursday nights (excluding Oct. 29 and Oct. 31) or four hours on Sunday nights, plus Oct. 29 and Oct. 31.
Tickets for the new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party* may be purchased online, as well as at the Disneyland Resort main gate and by phone at 714-781-4636. Online and mobile purchases are not available the day of the event. Parking is not included in the ticket price, and parking fees will apply. A Halloween party that isn’t by the Haunted Mansion? And the event tickets aren’t park hoppers either. :/ I get that they’re trying to manage their crowds, but still disappointing to that we have to buy two separate tickets if we want the actual HM ride to be part of the Halloween party fun.

I’m really sad that it won’t take place at Disneyland anymore. I’m from Australia and always plan my holiday so that I visit when Halloween is being celebrated. I have loved being able to see the parade and the amazing fireworks which were highlights for me. I’m sure it will still be good at DCA but it won’t be the same.
So we were informed that if you are a Disney Visa Card member or Vacation Club member you have to call to buy your tickets. We were on the phone waiting for almost an hour this morning, waiting. Also, right now only Annual Passholders could purchase online. We bought our tickets, cant wait!
Hi Michael – Excited for this new event. We are Disney Visa cardholders and trying to buy tickets today but the website is only offering access to AP holders right now. Is there a separate area or link for Disney Visa cardholders?
This says that Disney Visa holders can purchase tickets today along with pass holders. I have the Visa and just logged on and I don’t see an option for this. My Disney visa is saved in my account preferences. Any other ideas? May have to call, our travel dates are set.

Halloween time is starting right after Labor Day??? I don’t know why Disney has 2 full months of Halloween. We are going September 6th and are sad that everything will be changed. Not everyone celebrates Halloween so having 2 FULL MONTHS really isn’t a good idea. We’ll probably be rescheduling now. Disneyland is awesome and doesn’t always need to be “themed”. Bummer.
This sounds exciting, but I just realized that means no Nightmare Before Christmas and no Ghost Galaxy (DLP) and that is a heart breaker. I’m not too thrilled to pay a full day’s price for half a day either. I was seriously considering this purchase until I found out it was only DCA, now I won’t spend that much. :^(

The hours posted said from.6 to 11 it is more to attend sundays and the last two dates of October are 145$ which are more than Tues and Thursday which have same event time. Why? I get the Halloween date is more but not why on the sundays when the event times are same. Said it was an additional hour but times stated the same 6 to 11.
Is this hard ticket only for California Park? Does ticket include Hopper into Disneyland also?
@Liz – if your kids normally get Columbus Day (Mon Oct 14) as a school holiday, you may want to look at the Sun Oct 13 party.
I’m so very excited to be an attendee of Disney Halloween 🎃. I plan every Halloween vacation and look forward to being a kid at heart every time my husband and I go!!

This is the earliest we have EVER gotten Halloween-related news for Disneyland Resort! I love it! 🙂 I love Easter and all, but when it’s over I am looking ahead to the Halloween and Holiday seasons.
Let’s be honest — I don’t think anyone is shocked that the party is taking place in DCA this year. It makes sense. They can’t close Disneyland early on 20 nights (or however many party nights there are this year) when there are thousands of people trying to experience Galaxy’s Edge.
I am looking forward to the Challenge Trail getting into the Halloween spirit, and I can’t wait for the general Halloween Time season blog to find out what else is coming up.
Will the ticket to the Oogie Boogie Bash include a park hopper, like the Mickeys Halloween Party ticket did in previous years?
Kind of disappointed that Friday is no longer an option. I can’t justify taking my little one and them missing school the next day. I hope for future parties Friday is considered again. Also makes it hard for working parents too 🙁

Well, there goes our Halloween Party plans… We’ll be in the parks Tues-Wed-Thurs Oct 8-9-10 and were planning on resting Friday and hitting the Halloween party that evening. 😭
The changes sound neat, but Tuesday & Thursday rather than Tuesday & Friday is SO disappointing.

Yes – the new Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party takes the place of Mickey’s Halloween Party.
So this will be the same “parade” used when it was on the Disneyland side? That’s the one part of the event that Disney World does far better than Disneyland.
