A little birdie told us there are some rumors flying around about our beloved Tiki birds at Walt Disney World Resort. We’re sorry that our fans are being fed incorrect information by unscrupulous sources. While “toucan” play at that game, we deal in facts here at the Disney Parks Blog. Although we won’t address every rumor, we want to set the record straight: there are no plans for our feathered friends to fly the coop any time soon. We’re constantly evolving our stories, but these birds will continue entertaining our guests at the Magic Kingdom Park just as they have done since 1971.
If you want to put a feather in your own cap, here are the top five things to know and share with your friends about Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room:
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is home to 88 singing birds, and over 225 choreographed Audio-Animatronic performers in total.
- Walt Disney was inspired to pursue the concept of singing birds after seeing a little mechanical bird on a trip to New Orleans.
- The Tiki Room was originally envisioned as a restaurant with a show, but eventually became the classic attraction that we know today.
- A version of the attraction exists at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort and Tokyo Disneyland.
- While the Walt Disney World Resort attraction has gone through some changes over the years, it continues to delight thousands of guests each day!
When it comes to Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, “we’ve been a hit and we know you adore us, so come on and join us for another chorus!” Be sure to come back to the Disney Parks Blog for trusted and official news about Disney Parks!

I don’t think the bloggers were being unscrupulous but maybe zealous. Disney fans and bloggers are an excitable bunch and are always looking for news. They really are on Disney’s side. We love the Tiki Room and anything Disney. I have grown up going to Disneyland and consider it part of my life forever.
This is great news! Our favorite show!
Thank you for reversing course, listening and keeping this beloved attraction. It has earned its place in the parks. I will be back for the 50th!!
Love seeing the show but it’s even better with a nice cold dole whip in hand!
Thank you so much for addressing this rumor! The Enchanted Tiki Room is one of my favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom, and has been ever since my first visit at 3 years old. My mom and I would always go and sing along with the birdies, and I made the Tiki Room song my ringtone for whenever she calls, so I hear it often! I love the history behind the attraction and its close connection to Walt and to the development of audio-animatronics. Obviously the parks have to grow and change over the years, but I hope our beloved Enchanted Tiki Room remains always. It’s so colorful and fun and joyful – I look forward to seeing our fine-feathered friends on every visit!
I really appreciate you addressing the rumors, and providing accurate information. So many of us love Walt Disney World, and have so many happy memories of past visits. And so many plans for future vacations. Hearing the rumors can be upsetting, and getting the real story from a trusted source is great. Thanks.
+1 on needing to hear a similar denial regarding the Country Bears being removed.
We need to keep the one remaining State-side example of this attraction.
Thank you for debunking this rumor! Happy to hear the Tiki Room will stay. I hope that what I’m hearing about the Country Bears isn’t true either… they’re classic! Would be heartbroken to see them go.
I really appreciate you stepping up to denounce the rumor. However, the fact that you have remained silent on the Country Bear Jamboree is worrying many folks including me. The Country Bear Jamboree is a classic attraction that has been passed down from generation to generation. It would make sense to keep the attraction open during the 50th anniversary celebration, making it a highlight. I would love for Disney to promote this attraction more because doing so will increase the number of guests who love and appreciate it.
So glad to hear this! Not all rides and attractions need to be connected to a movie; originals like the Tiki Room keep the history of the parks alive so that they’re not ‘just another theme park.’ IF a Moana addition happens, I hope it would be subtle (hidden characters, for example).
Really pleased to hear this!!
Please also confirm that the Country Bears are also safe. Would be tragic to loose this classic opening day attraction!!!
Please don’t take away Country Bear Jamboree! It is a Disney classic and by taking it out, WDW would be destroying nostalgia and a piece of culture. WDW was “blessed with size” so use the size to add but don’t subtract from a Disney fan favorite that has been open since the park first opened. Celebrate 50 years with a true original attraction still open.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful news! I love to see Disney creating new and exciting attractions but PLEASE do not do so at the expense of the classics! Attractions like The Country Bears and Carousel of Progress need to remain at the Magic Kingdom to honor Walt and his vision.
What about the Country Bears? WHAT ABOUT THE COUNTRY BEARS???
Disney Parks Blog should debunk rumors more often.
So happy, this is my favorite attraction. I’d love for Country Bears to stay too, but if they had to go, what about relocating them to Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge?
So glad about the Tiki Room. Please Disney don’t take away The Country Bears!
Now, just tell us the same about the Country Bears. It isn’t necessary to subtract in order to “plus.” That attraction is a classic and MUST for our family and many others. It’s an original and should see Anniversary 50 and beyond!!
A certain blogger said Tiki Room was getting a Moana *overlay* (not that it was going away). That is unlike a certain Twitter user who said Tiki Room was going away and urged a write-in campaign.
So, this isn’t directed at the Moana overlay rumor, is it?
We’re all here to ask the fate of Big Al…not to mention Swingin’ Teddy Beara, the Sun Bonnet Trio, Henry, Melvin, Buff, Max….literally every single one of those loveable characters we wish you made more merch for! Don’t throw Big Al on the street, please say it isn’t so!
Awesome!
The birds sing words and the flowers croon!!🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜In The Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room!!! One of our favorite attractions since 1974, it’s a must-do every trip to Walt Disney World Resort!!

Thank god tiki birds are safe. It is must do every trip. I am worried sick about the Country Bears being replaced. I adore this show greatly and I will be crushed if it happens. I always purchase country bears merchandise no matter what the cost.
How about the Country Bears? That is far more important to be kept at Disney World, as they no longer exist at Disneyland, the Tiki Room (and the original version at that) still exists at Disneyland. The Country Bears at Disney World are the original and one of Walt’s last requests by all accounts, they really need to stay, but given how quickly you stopped the rumor about the Tiki Room, it makes me really wonder if you might be considering getting rid of the Country Bears since nothing has been said and that would be a true shame.
I would be ok with the Tiki Room getting a Moana Overlay at Disney World, the theme fits, but I would NOT be ok with the Country Bears leaving.
Just checked WDWNT insta account, and it looks like they’ve taken down their post. Thank you for setting the record straight. Now it’s time to wake up the glee club!
I’m very happy to hear that the rumor going around is unfounded! That is very good news. However, your inclusion of the phrase “any time soon” hangs somewhat of a grey cloud over the good news and leaves open the possibility that there could indeed be plans to change or remove it, but that the timeline for implementing those changes is farther off rather than “soon”. I would be much happier to hear that there are no plans to change or remove the Enchanted Tiki Room. Period. 🙂
I wasn’t aware of this, but it is incumbent upon WDW to come out with a post like this refuting the rumors wherever they may be from or about.
It is also important to remember the millions of fans of Walt Disney and although change is great, sometimes the pace may be challenging or viewed as extreme.
So, let’s try to keep the MAGIC in WDW and Walt in it as well! <3WDW!
And this is why you don’t believe “news” sites like WDWNT
Amen!
What can you told us about the the rumour about the Country Bear Jamborre, that it is going away. ???
