Summer has officially arrived and for many this will include a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort. Yes, summer means warmer temperatures, but members of the Disney Parks Moms Panel are here to offer up some of their best tips for making the most of a summer vacation at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

“The key to having a great day at the parks on a summer day is staying hydrated!” exclaims Eean. “I always place an order with an online grocery delivery service and have cases of bottled water and sports drinks delivered to our Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Every morning before heading out, we load up our drawstring backpacks.”

Mid-afternoon breaks are also highly recommended by several of our panelists, including Ashley P.

“We head back to our Disney Resort hotel shortly after lunch for some much-needed rest and relaxation. A dip in the pool is a must-do for my kids. With unique water slides and water play areas, the pools at Disney Resort hotels are perfect for families traveling with kids of all ages. After a swim, we all enjoy a nap in our air-conditioned hotel room (even mom and dad). Once everyone is well-rested, we go back to the theme parks for more pixie-dusted adventures!”

And speaking of water, Water Parks are another must-do if you are planning a summertime Walt Disney World vacation.

“I can’t say this enough,” says Lynne C. “I think the Water Parks are the hidden gems of the Walt Disney World Resort. If we’re visiting during the hot summer months, we’ll always try to spend at least a day (or more!) splashing away at either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, my pick for kids who are older or more experienced swimmers, or at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, which I prefer for little ones and kids who aren’t very strong swimmers.”

Jackie H. is also a fan of the Water Parks and has been known to make an eight-hour drive just to splish-splash at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

For those committed to a full day in the parks, Crystal has the perfect solution for beating the heat in the middle of the day.

“I like to plan a table service restaurant for lunch on each of our theme park days. This is the perfect way to enjoy a fantastic meal and some air conditioning during the hottest part of the day,” she explains. “Everyone in the family can cool off, get off their feet and fill their bellies, so we are refreshed and ready for more magic in the theme park! Plus, if you visit a Character Dining meal for lunch, you can even meet some of the Disney Characters on your ‘must-do’ list while you eat.”
