Today, yogis all around the world are practicing yoga in celebration of International Day of Yoga – and it’s no exception on our ships.
I’m a firm believer that taking a cruise does not have to be a vacation from a healthy lifestyle, and the good news is that there are many fun ways to remain “ship shape.” Whether you’re onboard today wanting to honor Yoga Day with a tranquil practice, or simply looking to keep your fitness afloat during your next Disney cruise vacation, we’ve got you covered.
Here are some of the ways you can maintain your workout routine on a Disney cruise…
Breathe deep. Group yoga is offered in the fitness center throughout the cruise and on the adult-exclusive beach, Serenity Bay, when the ship stops at our private island, Castaway Cay. The peaceful ocean views will help you quickly unwind for a restorative and refreshing practice.
Work up a sweat. The fitness center has state-of-the-art equipment for cardiovascular and weight training. You won’t get a view like this one from the treadmill back at home!
Play ball. Start a friendly game of hoops up on the sports deck. The basketball court can also be transformed into a mini soccer pitch or volleyball court.
Join a class. In addition to yoga, the fitness center offers group classes such as Pilates and spinning. Make a new friend while staying in shape!
Get personal. Want to take your fitness to the next level? One-on-one sessions with a personal trainer are available for a nominal fee.
Run through paradise. The morning 5k run on Castaway Cay is the best way to see untouched parts of the island while increasing your heart rate for a healthy workout. How often do you get the chance to race on a private island?!
Have fun. This one is easy on a Disney cruise! Burn calories and stay active in the pools onboard the ship or in the water on Castaway Cay. With water cycles, paddleboats, paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats and snorkels, the ocean is your playground.
Namaste, and Happy Yoga Day!
