Disneyland Celebrates 64 Years of Magic

Today we commemorate 64 years since the opening day of Disneyland with festivities that included the “Happiest March on Earth” down Main Street, U.S.A.

Disneyland Resort Ambassadors were joined by the Dapper Dans, the world-famous Disneyland Band and a cast of Disney characters to lead guests in a round of “Happy Birthday to You” in celebration of this happiest place.

As part of the tribute to opening day, a recording of Walt Disney’s speech was played again: “To all who come to this happy place, welcome! Disneyland is your land. Here, age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

The July 17 festivities are only part of the fun this summer. Starting tomorrow for a limited time, guests may see Mickey Mouse and his friends join the Disneyland Band for performances of “Mickey and Friends Band-Tastic Cavalcade” at Disneyland park. Beginning Aug. 2, the beloved “Main Street Electrical Parade” returns to Disneyland for a limited-time, bringing guests of multiple generations a sense of wonder, joy and – for some – warm nostalgia. This popular nighttime parade will travel down Main Street, U.S.A., each night through Sept. 30.

  • I miss the Main Street Electrical Parade sooooooo much!!!! I just left Disneyland, I wish it would have been there while I was 🙁 I still dream that somehow, someway this will make it’s way back to the Magic Kingdom. Not having a nighttime parade there just makes the night feel incomplete.

  • I LOVE the Main Street Electrical Parade. It’s the BEST, we are headed to Disneyland but are going to miss it by 1 day. We get to Disneyland on October 1st. I’m going to try to donate some plasma and see if I can manage to get there September 30th to see it before it goes away again.
