Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort brings guests of all ages under its spell, with spook-tacular experiences themed especially for the season from Sept. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019. Halloween magic will enchant at both Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park as favorite experiences are transformed into dreadful delights. With seasonal attraction overlays, Halloween-themed décor and food and beverage offerings, plus encounters with dastardly Disney villains, happy haunts seem to materialize around every corner!

Fantasmic

Disneyland Park

Enjoy Halloween fun at Disneyland park, where you will see beautiful décor on Main Street, U.S.A., including a giant Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern and Pumpkin Festival. Haunted Mansion, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer, transforms into its annual holiday theme – Haunted Mansion Holiday – inspired by the Walt Disney Pictures classic “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” And for the first time in nearly a decade, all guests visiting Disneyland will get to enjoy a version of the supernatural projection and special effects show – “Halloween Screams.” This nighttime spectacular adds to the spooky fun on most nights of the season. On select nights, “Halloween Screams” will go sky high when the show is enhanced with the addition of fireworks.

Cars

Disney California Adventure Park

Oogie Boogie will once again take over Disney California Adventure park with stylish Halloween decor along Buena Vista Street and this year, new Halloween magic on the façade of Carthay Circle will feature bats swarming around. You may also encounter a 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman holding his jack-o-lantern head to the sky on Buena Vista Street. Cars Land will celebrate Haul-O-Ween as Radiator Springs turns into Radiator Screams! For the occasion, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will transform into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree while Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters changes into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. In Hollywood Land, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will transform nightly into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark.

Plaza de la Familia

In Paradise Gardens Park, Plaza de la Familia will also return for a celebration inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos. This immersive and festive experience celebrates Disney and Pixar’s beloved film, “Coco,” and the everlasting bonds of family with exciting live entertainment, craft making, delicious food, interactive experiences and special merchandise. Several times daily, A Musical Celebration of Coco is a beautiful, festive performance where Miguel joins the Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia and the Grammy® Award winning Mariachi Divas, transporting everyone into the story of young Miguel’s fantastical journey.

Comments

  • Why doesn’t the Oogie Boogie bash start on the 6th of Sept also along with all the decorations??

  • Are the Disney Princesses out at the park during Halloween time? Or is it just the Villains? Planning a trip in October but would be sad if my daughter wasn’t able to meet them.

  • Is the Musical Celebration of Coco show slated to begin in September as well? Any exact performance dates? Planning on booking our family vacation during the weeks of the Coco show because Coco is my son’s favorite movie and I am desperate for him to see the Miguel puppet LIVE! Thank you!

  • Is Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy returning this year?

  • I must concur with everything Sherry mentions. It’s mega-holiday-awesomeness from Disney like this that makes the time of the year from September to end of year the very best! Looking forward to every bit of it.

  • Around this time of year, I start eagerly awaiting the Halloween Time and Holiday seasons. I want to soak up all the news and info I can get, so I really appreciate seeing this blog today!! Thank you! In fact, if you want to release a complete “Foodie Guide to Halloween Time 2019” right now, in the middle of summer, I would not complain! 😉 😉

I must say (although I don’t think anyone agreed with me) that I expected that Halloween Screams would be shown at Disneyland this year, despite the Halloween party moving over to DCA. I saw Halloween Screams in its first year — 2009 — before it was a party exclusive, and I thought that showing it for all park guests this year would be a nice way to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Great news!!

I want to also give an honorable mention to some overlooked Halloween decor and entertainment. There will be spooky performers singing in Downtown Disney on select nights…… Last year, the giant bear outside Grizzly River Run was holding a Mickey pumpkin/trick or treat bucket, and I suspect he might be similarly accessorized this year…… Additionally, the 3 official Disney hotels have gotten more into the “spirit” of the season as well — not only were the “edible” Oogie Boogie pumpkin display and treat table/cart a welcome addition to the Grand Californian Hotel lobby last year, but there were pumpkin carvers at the Disneyland Hotel, and there was a fun Pirate theme running through the lobby and first floor of the Paradise Pier Hotel…… And be sure to look inside the shops along Main Street in Disneyland to see the vintage Halloween decor, as well the crows in the Fortuosity Shop.

  • I would love it if the monster protections return to the roof of Space Mountain.
