That’s exactly what happened to a select group of Walt Disney World cast members who recently learned they had been chosen for the opening crew of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Walt Disney World Ambassador Marilyn West and a stealthy camera crew captured the emotional moment these Force-sensitive cast members got the surprise of their careers.

I teared up feeling the Cast Member’s Excitement at the honor of going to Batu as a part of the Opening Team. Reminds me that it was 30 years ago THIS MONTH I had the honor of going to the Studio’s as a part of Studio East Attractions to begin my Disney career. It would ultimately take me to be a part of opening an attraction and then to resorts where I helped open two new convention centers and a new resort. These Cast Member’s are in for the ride (pun intended) of their lives. I’m excited and happy for them. I can’t wait to wave to them when I visit Batu in October.

I’ve watched this about six times now and cry every time! The sincerity of the cast members’ emotions is amazing! I think it’s great how Disney shows the cast members how important they are to the guest experience, and how well they are treated no matter what job they are doing. They really show the idea of “every role a starring role” in recognizing their employees. I’m going to watch this again!
How can I get details around the Passholder Preview? My family of 4 will be headed down 8/25, so hope we’ll be in that window.
