Five members of America’s armed forces and their families—representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard—were surprised on August 27 with a special preview visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge two days before it officially opened in gratitude and appreciation for their military service.

Hosted personally by Disney Parks, Experience and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek, the five families had the opportunity to crew the most famous of all Star Wars starships while enjoying Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, assemble droids and lightsabers, shop the marketplace and wash the experience down with a cold blue milk.

  • I can’t say enough nice things about this experience and all of the Disney personnel who made this such a magical day for our family. Truly an experience we will never forget!

  • That’s awesome! Was this a contest that veterans had to enter for this surprise? I would’ve loved to get a chance at it sometime! I saw that they also did this for Toy Story Land before that was officially opened.
