#DisneyKids: Making Kiddos First Visit to Batuu a Saga To Remember

I recently strolled through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and was amazed by the number of multi-gen families entering the outer edge of the galaxy into Batuu.  Whether a Star Wars super fan or a Star Wars novice, families of all ages are exploring this epic land and living out their own Star Wars adventures. It’s a place where all generations – from grandparents to toddlers – can have a unique experience.

While they might not be ready to pilot the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, here are four things to check out if you are traveling to the outer rim with your youngster.

  • Little ones love crazy colorful foods so be sure to stop at the Black Spire Outpost Milk Stand to sample iconic blue or green milk. It’s a refreshing plant-based beverage that pairs well with Kat Saka’s sweet and savory red and purple popcorn. There’s other kid-friendly concoctions on the planet including fried Endorian Tip-Yip,  shapely crisp chicken with macaroni and cheese and veggies.
  • Wandering thru the bustling Marketplace with lurking smugglers and scoundrels is an adventure in itself. Kiddos will dig the galactic goods including lovable Porgs and temperamental Loth-cats at Creature Stalls, hand-crafted Star War toys at Toydarian Toymakers, or robes and tunics for young Padawans or Siths at Black Spire Outfitters.
  • Filled with famous ships like the X-Wing, A-Wing and of course Han Solo’s infamous Millennium Falcon, this land offers unique backdrops ideal for awesome photo ops.  Be on the lookout for Star Wars characters Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and Rey for Insta-worthy pics. Tip: Youngsters may enjoy meeting Stormtroopers who roam the land, but some may be too timid for First Order antics.
  • What’s more fun than building your very own remote-controlled droid? At Droid Depot, little ones can do just that in a colorful and cluttered workshop overflowing with all sorts of parts and pieces. This is a fun takeaway that will remind you of your time on Batuu once you return home. Tip: Reservations are highly recommended for this popular experience, up to 180 days in advance.

May the force be with you as you discover all the gems just right for tykes throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park in Anaheim.

  • Walking through the land we encountered Rey and she spent about 10 minutes or more with our daughter. She loved it and we will never forget her smile afterward.
