#VoicesFromHome: Dapper Dans Share Disney Magic, Take Requests

Thomas Smith

by , Editorial Content Director, Disney Parks

With their happy harmonizing, the Dapper Dans are an iconic part of the Main Street, U.S.A., experience at Disneyland Resort.  Today, in a first-of-its-kind performance, the famed Dapper Dans are using their #VoicesFromHome to share a touch of Disney magic with everyone at home.

From Burbank, California to Houston Texas, the Disneyland Dapper Dans jumped online at home to sing one of their all-time favorite songs “When You Wish Upon A Star.”  The song is just one of many others from a Dapper Dans song list that includes the popular “Grim Grinning Ghosts” and “When I See An Elephant Fly.”

Vote and let us know what you’d like to hear as the Dapper Dans use their #VoicesFromHome to bring Main Street U.S.A. into your home.

And be sure to keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for more #DisneyCastLife stories like this as Disney cast members continue to share Disney magic in the future.

  • Thank you for the smile!! This was very much needed today. Thanks.

  • I know its not listed but “Baby On Board” from the Simpsons, which several Dapper Dans were recorded singing for the episode. Its a part of Dapper Dan history 🙂

  • Thank you! I am crying right now because I love this so much! It is even more special because we get to see and hear all of you! I can’t wait for the next video and I look forward to the next time I can be “Walkin’ Right Down the Middle of Main Street USA” and be able to see and hear you in person. 💛💜❤️💙

  • Thank you for doing this! Today would have been a Magic Kingdom day if we would have been able to go on our vacation. Can’t wait to hear more.

  • Any chance of your singing Darkness on the Delta? I heard it performed once on Main Street USA years ago, and not again since then. It stirs a fond childhood memory of mine, hearing my grandfather, uncles, and brother sing this song. I would love to hear the Dapper Dans sing it… again!

  • Thank you SO much. This just brightened my day. God Bless all of you!!

  • Amazing! Keep it coming! Thank-you so very much!

  • The Dapper Dans are a HUGE part of the Disney park experience. This made my day. Thank you!!

  • You just made my day! Literal tears of joy! Thank you for continuing to provide the Disney magic in this time of crisis. We appreciate you all!

  • Fantastic! Thanks for the pixie dust!

  • Yesterday I spent some time putting Baloo in my front yard as part of a bear-themed walking scavenger hunt my neighborhood organized and you know what? It really did help me forget my worries and my strife for a bit. We could all use a moment of that right now, so I request The Bear Necessities. That Baloo knows his stuff!

  • Thank you!!! This was an awesome surprise. Im not sure hiw this got edited together, but to the editor and the Dapper Dans, you guys rock! Thanks for making me smile today 😁😁

  • Thank you!! We’ve booked our trip this year in August – keeping our fingers crossed that we will see you in person! Someone mentioned “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” in another post. That would be a wonderful one to add 🙂🙂

  • Oh goodness I wish I could hear “Five Foot Two” by these guys. I only have heard it once during the Fall season by the Dapper Dans in Disneyland. My girlfriend and I saw them about to hop on the trolley in front of the castle and I dashed over pulling her behind me. They sang three songs from there to the railroad starting off with “Five Foot Two,” truly amazing.

  • My favorite Disney song!!! Thanks for the pixie dust!

  • I would love to hear “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!” Such a fitting song for now and would really lift our spirits!

  • As the Dad of a Dan (now separated due to the Corona situation ) I would love to see/ hear him perform on this platform. So if there’s room – please add Jake Novak to your roster. Thanks

  • Thank you so much! Just what I think we all needed to hear!! ❤️

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I just close my eyes and listen and I’m on Main Street USA.
I don’t really care what you sing next. I just want to hear you sing!

  • This was SO FANTASTIC!!!!!! UGH, I cannot wait for more! Thank you guys!! Thank you editors! Thank you DPB!

  • Thank you so much for bringing some Disney magic right into my home!! I found myself singing right along with you. Besides the big smile you put right on my face, I also had some happy tears on my face!! Thank you for making Disney magic.🎢 🎡🐭🏰

  • This brought tears of happiness to my eyes. Thank you for sharing the Disney magic with us while we are at home in isolation.

  • I’ve been a bit depressed because we have to cancel our April trip. This song helped brighten my day. Love it.

  • I would love to hear the song from the Humphrey Bear cartoon Picnic Time. I think it’s called picking up the trash.

  • Love the Dapper Dans! For my request, can they do “InThe Bag” (aka, the Humphrey Hop)? I wonder how many people will get that reference…

  • When I saw this video this morning, I literally cried. Talk about music that touches your heart and soul. The Dapper Dans are THE icons of Main Street, USA, and it’s not a proper day in the parks without them. Thank you, guys, for putting this together. I look forward to the day when we can all hear you sing again in person!

  • I’m in the park at least 2-3 times a week, minimum. Worked there ’08-’10. The Dapper Dans are one of my favorite reasons to be in Disneyland. Listening to them never gets old. They truly set the tone for Main St. and make my day! I just found a video clip on my phone of them singing Mr. Sandman. Can’t wait to see what they record next!!! Thank you!!! I really needed a dose of Disney right about now! 💗🏰🎠🎡🎢💈🎪☕🍭

  • Add me to the list of people who cried happy tears of joy upon hearing this today. The Dapper Dans are the epitome of Disney Magic. What beautiful voices & arrangement. And great video editing too! Anyway, I can not wait to hear more. Thank you so much to all involved!

  • Thank you for bringing some Disney Magic into the middle of such unimaginable events. As I listened I pictured myself walking down the middle of Main Street surrounded by the people I love the most sharing a special day free of this unseen enemy so many are terrorized by. I don’t think I’ll ever complain about the crowds at Disneyland again!

  • Oh my goodness! I don’t know why this made me cry, too! I just loved it so much there was nothing else I could do! Thanks you so much my dear, Dapper Dans! ❤️ To all of you!!

  • You brought tears to my eyes! Thank you, and I’ll keep wishing on those stars. For your next song, I’d love all three choices, but I figure the medley would touch upon all of my favorite attractions and places at Disneyland. Also, there’s a song that you rarely sing, but I know you have in your repertoire. I believe it’s called Who Will Buy, from Oliver.

  • Given all the shortages for things like toilet paper, I think “The Bare Necessities” would be most appropriate 😊.

  • Thank you so much, Dapper Dans, for joining your voices together for all of us – if only remotely – during these difficult times……You have no idea how much this means to all us Disneyphiles. When you’re singing, I can picture myself on Msin Street, taking in all the activity, smiles and laughter as I see the castle looming in front of me.

    Please keep singing for us.

  • Thank you!!! 😘❤️

  • Tears here in New Hampshire. We were supposed to visit Disneyland for a couple of days around my 50th college reunion the end of April…reunion cancelled, trip cancelled, sadness…and then this to brighten my day, even if it did make me cry…

    Thank you so much!

  • You have bring tears of joy 😍and warmth to my heart💖 Thank you so much my dear Dapper Dans. Missing listening to your beautiful singing and I can’t wait to hear you in person again. You are magical ✨✨ Love You💕

  • Always love the Dapper Dans! Thanks for sharing the magic!

  • I am a barber shopper from a Illinois and I am having barbershop withdrawal. Thank you for you post it was great to hear the harmony. Our chapter is currently meeting on the computer with the zoom program, but you can only hear one voice at a time. Any suggestions on how you got everyone. Together at the same time or were they recorded separately and blended at Disney? My daughter is a big fan and forward this tome thanks Julie!

  • I would love to hear “Once Upon a Dream” from Sleeping Beauty, please! Thank you for keeping the magic alive.

  • I love this…a few tears fell reminiscing my high school teacher, Mr Scott, who was a Dapper Dan for many, many years. He was so cool to sign me and friends in to the park during summer vacay. He was a fun teacher and so talented. When I became a cast member for a very short time, once a month I would go to the ticket line and select a group, up to three people, to sign them in. I enjoyed doing that, repaying the generosity of Mr. Scott. Invariably I would tell the guests to enjoy the Dapper Dans during their visit. Hearing the harmony is a joyous neverending circle.

  • Thank you, guys, for putting this together. I cast my vote, but no matter which song wins I’ll be glad to hear it. And if you’re of a mind to, maybe consider “What Can I Say Except You’re Welcome?” from “Moana,” if only because I’d love to hear a Barbershop arrangement. 😀

  • We just moved to Calif. and went to DISNEYLAND for the Christmas Holiday with our first little son and the Dapper Dans were singing. He wiggles out of my arms and started to dance. They were kind enough to come by him to sing and he continued dancing. This memory is so special to us because we were a you g couple with our first child 3000 miles away from all our family and we wanted to spend our first family Christmas at a place we grew up watching on tv that was special to us. Jeff is now 50 years old and we tell him often of the wonderful first Christmas and how the Dapper Dans made it extra special. Thank you for the wonderful memory.

  • “In The Bag (The Humphrey Hop)” would be a very appropriate song given our current situation. Mixed w/“Walking Down the Middle Of Main Street USA” because we all need to do our part to be responsible and self aware!!

  • Thank you to all of the Dapper Dan’s for brightening my day!! Like others, I voted but anything you guys sing will make me smile!! One of my favorites is Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street USA. Thank you again and please stay healthy!!

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you! You guys are so special. I cant wait to hear more!
You bring a little magic back to a very uncertain time.
    See you real soon
    And be safe and healthy

  • This was awesome! Miss those guys!
