It’s that time of year again! The day that Star Wars fans from across the galaxy come together and celebrate May the 4th, a.k.a. Star Wars Day. You don’t have to travel to a galaxy far, far, away this year, as your very own Star Wars stories can now come to life at home with the all-new Droid Depot mobile app.

The out-of-this-world app, available for free download on the App Store and Google Play, brings your BB-series or R-series astromech droid unit from Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life for a galactic experience at home. While these droids can interact with elements in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, now your droids can interact with you at home. For those of you who haven’t built an astromech droid unit yet, you’re in luck! You can also channel your inner droid builder in an all-new virtual experience where you can build a digital droid and create a whole new virtual collection of droids!

Join the Resistance when you sync up with your Droid Depot astromech unit. Every Jedi, Sith Lord and Rebel alike will be able to program their droids, customize them by name, see their profiles, and pilot them on a virtual path around their home activating sounds and maneuvers using the app.
You’ll also be able to choose some favorite galactic jams by DJ R3X straight from Oga’s Cantina and choreograph your droid to dance its way through your home, check it out:
From the youngest Padawan to the most knowledgeable Jedi, there are also adventures that await you in strategy mode! Here you will be able to play a game of tic-tac-toe with your droid in both easy and difficult modes.
What are you waiting for? The Droid Depot app is available in the U.S. and Canada and can be downloaded for free on the App Store or Google Play. For the very first time, direct from a galaxy far, far, away, pre-built versions of BB-8 and R2-D2 interactive remote control droids from Droid Depot at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are available for a limited time, while supplies last, on shopDisney.com – they’ll arrive at your home, ready to play as soon as you sync them with the app.
Who’s ready to celebrate May the 4th droid style? I know I am!

Launch this in the uk please.
Please make available in Denmark as well, I would love to play with my R2 unit with this App
Hi. When Will be available at Mexico’s App Store? I’ll love to use it with my most recent BB-8 droid.
Fun app and I was easily able to sync with my droid. Love the “Maneuvering” feature. Sometimes my droid makes weird sounds like a combo of a personality chip and default sound. Also, would be great if the virtual “Droid Builder” was in full color and had all of the accessories choices offered, including the R series color panels.
It’s so sad that I cannot use your app with my droid since it’s not available on the German AppStore!
This is amazing and adds to the play value and puts it on par with Sphero (assuming its not them behind the curtain). My daughter loves creating the dance cycles .
I tried at first and it wasn’t pairing, then I tried turning off the remote it came with and it paired perfectly.
Please release in uk I have 2 droids my daughter would love it
When is the app going to work in the uk
Please release this for Australia too! We have a couple of droids we bought in Dec that we’d love to try it with while we’re stuck at home. 🙂
Can my son sync this app to his Droid he built at Droid Depot last September? Does he need to buy another chip to sync it or buy a whole new Droid through the Disney Store online. The Droid in the example video looks like one built at the Droid Depot, not one of the pre-build Droid. I wish there were better instructions & information on how to use the app.
We couldn’t get the unit to pair to the app either… but just figured it out 🙂
When the app tells you to turn the unit back on you have to hold down the “hidden” pairing button until the light blinks RED. THEN press continue. This puts the unit in PAIR mode. You would do the same thing if you needed to pair the remote.
Hope this helps!
I got my droid connected one time and it went into sleep mode while I was setting up his profile. The app disconnected from the droid and now, it fails to connect. I’ve tried turning it off and on, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, replacing the batteries… nothing.
The Force is not strong with this app.
It would be awesome if you could design your own droid via the app, before going to the parks! If you don’t have a droid, this app is worthless. Please add the ability to design one!
My Droid isn’t being found by the app. I even pressed and held the button next to the power switch and its not working
Very disapponting that it’s not available in my country!
Will this only work if you have the additional chip was purchased, or will it work for the basic droid as well?
Why is this not available in the UK? My kids bought an R2 unit and a BB unit last year and would love to be able to use this app!
