One year ago, we celebrated the momentous dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort. After decades of collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge officially opened to Disneyland park guests on May 31, 2019.

Star Wars icons George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams joined Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger for the historic dedication ceremony in front of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon

As the largest single-themed land expansion in Disney history, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge invites you to live your own Star Wars adventures in a galaxy far, far away. Take control of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or join a climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (opened Jan. 17, 2020). While exploring this expansive 14-acre land, sample galactic food and drink, enter an intriguing collection of merchant shops and encounter aliens, droids and other inhabitants on the planet Batuu.

  • What about the Star Wars Day coming up in August? Since no parades or fireworks, will it be postponed?

  • Are there going to be new posts to the DisneyParks Blog?

  • I bought a life-sized R2-D2 while at The Droid Depot in December for The Holidays. They custom built him, and the process was delayed by the global situation, but he was finally delivered by Jawas in April. I’m glad I got him while I had the chance! He has proved invaluable since his arrival!

  • I’m really looking forward to visiting Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland again.

  • There is a rumor that SWGE will not reopen when Hollywood Studios opens on July 15. Is this true? We will be devastated as that was to be my husband’s 50th bday present, and we are so excited to see Batuu!

  • Building my lightsaber was an experience I’ll never forget! I had been waiting nearly all my life to do it! Still haven’t had the pilot position on the Millennium Falcon, so you can bet that’s on my list the next time I voyage to Batuu!

  • Flying the Millennium Falcon was truly amazing, but honestly, for me, the best part was just walking up to it, including standing in line (something I thought I’d never say). The DETAILS!!! The teeny tiny details were completely mindblowing. I was 10 years old when New Hope premiered, and my 10 year old self was squeeing like a maniac as soon as I turned the corner in Batuu and laid eyes on that glorious “hunk of junk.” ❤
