Haunted Mansion Home Improvements at Disneyland Park

Upon your return to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park, you may discover the ghosts have been busy updating a few elements in and around the estate…

Outside, freshly landscaped details now adorn the site for dearly departed pets, representing their stories from beyond the grave.

Inside, a keen eye will notice a few dastardly design embellishments along the portrait hallway, including the return of an old, perhaps familiar face. One of the Mansion’s original portraits known as “April to December” once again graces the hallway. As you step closer to your doom buggy, you’ll see the lovely young woman aging before your eyes!

The video below highlights some of the happy haunts’ handiwork:

We are looking forward to the planned reopening of Disneyland Resort theme parks on April 30. Both a theme park reservation and valid admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Guests must have a valid theme park admission ticket in order to make a reservation. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines. For details on how to make a theme park reservation, check out our story here.

While the Mansion hosts 999 ghosts, there’s still room for one more! Check out this video from @DisneyParks TikTok for an even closer look:

  • Please, say more about the horticultural additions! The statues and plaques are obvious to those who look for them. The thought & planning that goes into the plantings isn’t. I’d like to know more!
    Thanks!

  • I tried to take down my comment, but I can’t figure out how to do it. So I’ll tell you that I wish they’d mentioned somewhere in one of the articles about the Haunted Mansion updates that the voice doing the voiceover in the video is the daughter of Madame Leota, who I think we all know. I SURE DO. Disney! If you are going to use a VIP who is particularly important to the story behind the very origins of the Haunted Mansion in your videos, just tell us. If you don’t tell us, we wonder where the signature professional voices are. THAT is what I was trying to say. You have a different story behind this video. So tell that story. Goodness gracious, thanks for letting me know. If she is accustomed to appearing in videos, she should have appeared in THIS one, for sure. Of course she is highly valued for her 25+ years of service to Disney.

And I still think a professional actor would be more appropriate to the task. Every Actor in America has been out of work for over a year. I could do 20 minutes on this topic. Suffice it to say, I look forward to going to HM sometime soon. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to shake Kim’s hand and tell her how much I admire her work as an Imagineer.

  • Wow! It’s been about 20 years since I’ve visited the DL Mansion, and there’s another detail in the video that seems new to me: As the portrait hall path passes the busts and heads for the boarding area, I saw a wood and glass partition on the left side opposite the “April December” portrait. I remember that area being entirely open on my last visit. Is that partition new?

  • The updates shown look fantastic! I can’t wait to see them in person (but I will have to wait anyway, since I live 15 miles outside California). All my best on the reopening! It will be nice just to know that cast members are making magic for guests again.

  • Ohhhh yessssss 🦇

  • Awesome!
