What could be more perfect this year than a summertime visit to a Disney theme park? As we continue to see more communities adjust and ease COVID-19 guidelines, there’s a new sense of optimism with many positive signs moving forward. We’re encouraged by it too, seeing more families making travel plans, friends dining out together more often and more Americans returning to work. And at Disney theme parks, we’re gradually bringing back more of our beloved park experiences.
A Disney tradition since 1957, fireworks shows are what Walt Disney called the perfect “kiss goodnight” at the close of a magical day, and this summer the skies above Disney theme parks will sparkle with color once more. Beginning in July, just in time for the nation’s Independence Day celebrations, our incredibly popular nighttime fireworks spectaculars are returning to Disney parks!
At Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, July 1 marks the start of nightly fireworks performances at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT. “Happily Ever After” Presented by Pandora Jewelry will transform Cinderella Castle with lights, projections and pyrotechnics, as moments from favorite Disney stories encourage you to grab hold of your dreams and make them come true. And as part of the ongoing transformation of EPCOT, “EPCOT Forever” will produce a spectacle of fireworks, music and lighting effects over World Showcase Lagoon, highlighting the themes of innovation, exploration, imagination and celebration at the core of the park’s past, present and future.
As Disneyland park in California welcomes back all guests, the fun starts July 4 with “Mickey’s Mix Magic” presented nightly throughout the summer. State-of-the-art projections, show lighting and lasers will transform Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and the façade of “it’s a small world” into a dazzling, family fun dance party that goes sky high with fireworks to celebrate the leader of the club, Mickey Mouse.
If you simply can’t wait until your next visit to see some Disney fireworks, you can enjoy a virtual viewing of “Happily Ever After” right now with #DisneyMagicMoments at home. And stay tuned to Disney Parks Blog for opportunities to join us for upcoming live streams this summer!
As a reminder, valid park admission and a park reservation are required for park entry and must be linked to your account. Visit Disneyworld.com/update and Disneyland.com/update for important information, including park attendance requirements.
Will fireworks continue into August? They’re only showing for July on the My Disney Experience.
Someone mentioned bringing back fast passes? Please DON’T. Parks have been more enjoyable lately just being able to step in a line without yielding to others or having to alter your day to meet a pre set time ride. Not missing fast passes at all. Let the lines be and move as they were designed from the beginning of time.
Happy to see a sweet kiss goodnight. They are awesome. So much want the French Quarter to reopen with the meal plan. See you in November
Good the fireworks are back. NOW BRING BACK FASTPASSES! 😉
I wish they could think of a way to guaranty some day a way to to see the new rides without having to be fighting with virtual speed. We don’t all have smart phones and the ability to use them as well as others along with the tricks to being able to get it every time. Maybe when the new passes come out for regulars can they eventually just give us a one time use that comes with the pass to guaranty it. How would Walt feel? is what we always say.
Any chance that fireworks cruises will return? Going at Christmas and can’t think of a better way to wrap up our trip than a fireworks cruise from the Contemporary.
Are dessert parties or dessert cruises returning as well? Specifically for MK?
Fantastic news!! Any news if the Frozen Ever After Dessert Party will be coming back? Taking my grandkids for their first trip 7/28 thru 8/2!!
I have to say this is devastating news! We are taking my 2-year-old daughter for the first time on the 2nd and were looking forward to the fireworks more than anything. July 2nd is a Friday. Doesn’t it make sense to have fireworks the entire weekend?
Yes! MK and Epcot first! Just a matter of time until Fantasmic returns. Breath held, fingers crossed!
🙁 Of course our MK reservations are for 6/29-30.
May I ask, are those a new color for Minnie ears?
Hi! Is there any chance that the dessert parties will be back? Specifically looking for the Hollywood Studios Star Wars dessert party. Going in late August and am really hoping to see the show and book it if it’s coming back!
Yay, fireworks are back! How I’ve missed seeing them dearly..

This is such great news! Any idea if “Highway in the Sky” or something similar may return when the construction at the Polynesian is complete?
Great news! Going along with this, is there any indication if or when fireworks cruises may be back? Going to be there for the holidays and that sounds wonderful. Thanks!
