Capture Magical Disney Memories through Photos with Tips from planDisney Panelist Andres V.

There is nothing quite so magical as looking back at beloved family photos to remember special times with loved ones. At planDisney we find that to especially be the case when it comes to reliving Disney vacation memories. But how does one capture that amazing moment? Is the lighting right? Is my camera okay? Better yet, will my kids ever quit poking each other while I am trying to take the photo? Sound familiar? For many, these questions hit close to home, but in true planDisney fashion, we are here today with some helpful photography tips from our Disneyland Resort specialist, Andres.

Andres is known for some spectacular photographs from his Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort vacations. We asked him to provide some of his top tips in helping you bring home photographs you will cherish for years to come. Here’s what he shared:

“Taking pictures at any of the Disney Theme Parks is one of my favorite things to do! Whether I’m capturing magical memories with my family, or snapping pictures of beautiful park landscapes, it’s about reliving those memories back at home or whenever you need a bit of Disney in your day. Today, I’m bringing you my Top Five tips for taking great pictures at Disney!

• Get Creative: I don’t know about you, but I’m on the hunt to get that perfect, unobstructed shot of iconic landmarks like Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella Castle. These pictures can be captured by anyone if you get creative. Both castles offer stunning views from the side which any Guest can take. I have a Cinderella Castle shot from the side as my current wallpaper.

• Find new locations: Oftentimes we’re in the hustle and bustle of getting to our next show or attraction that we miss all the wonderful details throughout the parks. There are so many areas filled with details that make perfect subjects for your pictures. I often take pictures while I’m waiting in line for an attraction. One of my favorite queues has to be Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. The amount of detail is amazing!

• Be patient: Sometimes getting the perfect shot requires patience. At night, you can find many empty spots around the parks as things begin to wind down. It’s the perfect time to take a picture or two of your favorite areas. Perhaps you’re wanting a picture of the Mark Twain Riverboat coming around the riverbend. My tip is to grab a churro while you wait for it to circle around the scenic Rivers of America.

• Use what you have: I often say the best camera is the one you have on you. You don’t want to miss an opportunity because you forgot your camera at home. With smartphones readily available, and how far they have come, take out your phone and start shooting. I often take pictures and record videos with my phone because that’s all I have at the moment.

• Have fun: Taking pictures should be fun and a way to express yourself. Selfies are a great way to remember parts of your trip with loved ones. I also like to take a picture right before the attraction begins to capture the excitement on my kids’ faces. The wonderful thing about photography is there is no right or wrong photo. Capture what matters to you and what you want to remember from your trip!”
