Heroes Work Here: Military Fellowship Program Resumes at Disney

Veterans come to work at Disney through a variety of different avenues. One successful pipeline is the Disney Military Fellowship program. This program offers fellowships across a wide range of Disney roles to active-duty military members during their last 180 days of service. Done in collaboration with the Department of Defense Skillbridge program, Disney is one of many organizations that allow servicemembers preparing to transition out of the military an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, and internships.

Cast member Dan Grundvig, Manager of Supplier Diversity, was the first participant in the Disney Military Fellowship Program when it began in 2017 as he was retiring from the U.S. Army.

“When I left the military, I was looking for a company that would offer me the same level of satisfaction I had while serving 30 years in military uniform,” said Dan. “I found what I was looking for at Disney, which has the same values, ethics, and teamwork that I enjoyed in the military. I’m enjoying being part of another winning team following my time in uniform.”

The Military Fellowship Program at Disney was paused during the pandemic but recently resumed in Jan. 2022 when we welcomed U.S. Army Master Sergeant David Kress as our newest fellow. Throughout his Fellowship, David will be supporting the Sourcing team helping with the evolution of this important Program.

Alumni of this program work in roles across Disney Parks, Experiences and Products – from Walt Disney World Resort, to Disney Cruise Line, to Disneyland Resort. We celebrate their service to our country and their incredible contributions to our company.
