Fill in the blank: “Like a good neighbor, ____.” If you love a good jingle like I do, it’s nearly impossible NOT to think of State Farm when you read that phrase. For nearly 100 years, State Farm has fostered a sense of community built on the foundational value of being a good neighbor. And today, State Farm and Disney announced a new, multi-year relationship spanning Disney Parks and Resorts and Disney Advertising Sales, allowing both brands to engage in new and important ways together. To celebrate this new relationship, “Good Morning America” helped State Farm surprise a good neighbor family in North Carolina with a trip to Walt Disney World Resort. Check out how this mother-daughter team started a lemonade stand to give back to the less fortunate by using proceeds to create care packages for those in need.

Disney and State Farm will also team up on events such as the State Farm Good Neighbor Month celebration in September, which will feature engaging activities with a touch of Disney magic!

  • If I didn’t know Disney Parks’ history with sponsorship, I may have been perturbed, but Disney Parks have relied on sponsorships since Disneyland opened in 1955. And to be honest, a company with a slogan line “like a good neighbor,” I think this is a good fit. I am not a customer of State Farm, but it reminds me of when Hunt’s Ketchup was a sponsor of Disneyland, but I preferred Heinz — but I wasn’t upset that another brand was Disneyland’s “official ketchup” or when Eastern Airlines or Delta was the official airline, but I was flying other airlines as a kid.

I DO wish I could have gotten Wonder Bread when they were the sponsor of the Country Bear Jamboree at Disneyland, but my parents refused to buy it just because we saw it at Disneyland.

But corporate sponsorships are not at ALL new to Disney parks, so I’m not going to get all up in arms about it, and this one seems to fit.
