Celebrate Your Disney Memories with New Virtual Mural on Cinderella Castle

Every time I walk into Magic Kingdom Park, I take a moment to look up at the plaque declaring, “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy.” More than ever, being transported to these magical lands gives me a much-welcomed break from everyday life.

However, as I found out the hard way when I was a kid, you can’t stay (though as an adult, I’ve found that living a few minutes away is a great compromise). But what if your memories could stay?

In honor of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration, today Disney PhotoPass Service is introducing “Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories,” which lets you virtually transform Cinderella Castle with your photos. While at Magic Kingdom Park, you can use the My Disney Experience app to add select Disney PhotoPass photos to Cinderella Castle using some really cool augmented reality technology, brought to life through our collaboration with Snap.

Watch the video below to learn more about this experience.

Once you get started, the experience will prompt you to select a portrait-oriented Disney PhotoPass photo from your photo gallery within the My Disney Experience app. If you prefer not to use one of these photos, you can also choose from our collection of images featuring Disney icons and favorite characters.

This experience, available for $9.99, includes:

  • A spot of your choosing on available sections on Cinderella Castle to digitally pin your photo, which will be waiting for you and other guests to view again and again during visits to Magic Kingdom Park throughout the celebration and beyond (for at least three years).
  • A special video of your photo flying from the castle that can be downloaded and shared.
  • The ability to download a high-resolution version of your pinned photo from your Disney PhotoPass gallery without watermarks (a $16.95 value), both in its original form and an additional version with a special border applied that includes your first name. If you’re a Disney cast member, Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club Member, or Club 33 Member, you’ll even receive a personalized border reflecting your affiliation.

While exploring Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories, you can enhance your experience with AT&T 5G in select locations surrounding Cinderella Castle.

And, one of our favorite parts about this new experience is that Disney cast members will be able to participate, too! As cast members are the heart of the 50th Anniversary celebration, each of them will receive a complimentary entitlement for this offering.

Cinderella Castle has received a few makeovers over the past 50 years, but this beautiful collection of digital memories is particularly special because it’s created by the happy moments experienced by so many of you. As the celebration continues, we’ll be releasing additional sections of the castle onto which you can pin your memories, so check back each visit to Magic Kingdom Park to see how the mural has grown around your photos.

As we continue our next-generation storytelling, this new experience is the latest way we are using innovative new technology to engage guests in our theme parks, joining other experiences like our many Disney PhotoPass Lenses* and other future additions like MagicBand+.

Stay tuned for more #DisneyWorld50 digital innovations!
