We recently shared the magic of Walt Disney World Resort with our Central Florida community, bringing special pixie dust moments to local students, schools and nonprofit organizations.

Mickey Mouse joined jazz band students from Osceola County School for the Arts to share the exciting news that Disney would be helping these students meet their fundraising goal as they prepare to attend Essentially Ellington in New York City – a prestigious program that aims to elevate musicianship, broaden perspectives and inspire performance. The band is one of only 15 finalists competing for top honors at the 27th annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival in May, and we can’t wait to follow their journey to “The Big Apple.”

“As someone with a deep passion for the arts, it makes me proud to see we’re furthering our support of these programs and are committed to our future storytellers and their interests,” Walt Disney World Ambassador Ali Manion said.

We also joined our friends at Shepherd’s Hope – an organization providing specialty care for the uninsured and underinsured – for a special ribbon cutting ceremony outside their new HEAL Kitchen which we helped support. This new kitchen will play a vital role in hunger relief initiatives, further supporting families in need throughout our local community.

What’s better than two surprises? Three! Walt Disney World chefs are always cooking up new ways of supporting local students, playing an active role in inspiring the next generation of culinary professionals. Recently, students from Wekiva High School’s culinary program – a program that our chefs work closely with – were selected to participate in the NASA HUNCH Culinary Challenge in Texas, marking the first time a Florida team was invited to compete. In addition to some mentoring magic, Disney also helped fill the gap in fundraising efforts, continuing to help these students shoot for the stars.

Our surprise & delight moments will continue into the future as we’re committed to supporting communities near and far through monetary support and hands-on helping through the Disney VoluntEARS Program and the 50 for 50 Disney VoluntEARS Challenge. Stay tuned for more community magic!
