Today, we celebrate Haitian Flag Day, recognizing the freedom of Haiti and the creation of the Haitian flag. It’s also a great time to highlight some of our Haitian cast members at Walt Disney World, like Eveline Marc and her two daughters: Beata Guerilus and Samanta Derosier.

Eveline, a housekeeper at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, moved to central Florida with her family in 2004. She soon joined the Disney family as a housekeeper at the newly opened Disney’s Pop Century Resort. “My daughters are everything to me, and I wanted to give them a great life,” Eveline said. Her children’s education was her number one priority, and she wanted to see them all earn college degrees.

Eveline’s commitment and dedication paid off, because all four of her daughters graduated from college. In fact, Beata, a learning operations manager for Disney, was originally inspired by her mother to study hospitality in school. “When my mom shared her experiences with me, it helped me understand how I can use my skills in a unique way, while also connecting with my cast members through our shared culture and heritage.”

Often hearing great stories from her mother and the Disney Cast Life experience, Samanta quickly knew Disney was an option in her future. After watching her older sister’s career progress from an attractions host to leadership positions and connecting with other young professionals, Samanta joined the company as a financial analyst. “My mom will always be an inspiration to me. Knowing what she endured to ensure that my siblings and I would be successful is something I can never take for granted,” she said.

As a single mother, Eveline is extremely proud of her daughters who work at Disney, but also her other two daughters. “It’s the greatest feeling to see Beata and Samanta playing important roles in the company. While my other two daughters do not work for Disney, they are also excelling at their jobs,” Eveline said. “I couldn’t be prouder.”
