5 Tributes to the USA You Can Find at Disneyland Paris

Fourth of July celebrations are well underway at Disney Parks, especially at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. And while American Independence Day is not a holiday that is celebrated in France, you can find many tributes to the USA year-round at Disneyland Paris.

Let’s take a look at how Disneyland Paris celebrates the birthplace of Disney magic.

1. Discover the famous American locations that inspired Main Street, U.S.A.

Walt Disney’s inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A. comes from his childhood nostalgia and the place where he grew up in Marceline, Missouri. References to Walt’s hometown can be seen in the Disney & Co shop, which represents the state’s well-known Pike County Fair.

But, that’s not the only source of inspiration you will see on Main Street, U.S.A. as Disneyland Paris pays tribute to many other American towns and cities as guests pass by.

The most unique location on Main Street is Walt’s – an American Restaurant, a unique restaurant and the only one throughout Disney Parks to be based on Walt Disney himself. Displayed here are incredible memorabilia such as sculptures and paintings from Walt’s own personal collection as well as pictures and Oscars that he received. Celebrating Walt Disney and his achievements, the restaurant pays homage to the city of Chicago where Walt was born in 1901.

Did you know? Some of the manhole covers in Main Street, U.S.A. were gifts from American cities including Chicago, New York and Baltimore.

2. Spot the history behind the famous Lady Liberty

Lit by gas lamps and ornate artwork, the Liberty Arcade sits alongside Main Street and tells the story of one of the USA’s most famous landmarks – the Statue of Liberty.

Guests can stroll through the picturesque arcade and discover historic photographs, artwork and display cases that tell the story of the creation of the Statue of Liberty – they can even take part in the statue’s inauguration at Statue of Liberty Tableau.

Did you know? The statue of liberty was a gift from France to the USA symbolizing the friendship between the two countries.

3. Saddle up for a Wild West adventure in Frontierland

Frontierland takes guests back in time to the American Old West, welcoming all those who enter into the fictional town of Thunder Mesa, known for its famous saloons and wildest rides in the wilderness.

While it refers to historic references in American culture, Frontierland at Disneyland Paris also draws inspiration from film and TV culture.

Did you know? The Big Thunder Mountain attraction is inspired by the famous Monument Valley in Utah.

4. Marvel at the glitz and glam of Hollywood in Walt Disney Studios Park

Guests can step foot into the glitz and glam of Hollywood as they hop over to the second Park of Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park.

At the entrance of the Park is Front Lot, an area inspired by an architecture style called the Spanish Revival that was popular in Southern California during the golden age of Hollywood. The design of the buildings, in particular Disney Studio 1, is based on a studio of which you can see a photo inside Walt Disney Studios Store.

Once inside Disney Studio 1, guests become the star of the show as they discover the backstage of Hollywood film sets. On one side, the Studio is lined with façades of nightclubs inspired by real and imaginary ones from the golden age of Hollywood and the other side is inspired by storefronts that may have existed during this time.

Did you know? Inside Disney Studio 1, guests will see the façade of The Brown Derby restaurant with famous caricatures on the walls inside.

5. Take a grand tour of the USA throughout seven Disney Hotels

With seven wonderfully themed hotels, a stay at Disneyland Paris will take guests on a grand tour of some of America’s most famous destinations.

Whether they are experiencing the vibrant city of downtown New York at Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel; relaxing in the majestic seaside setting of Disney Newport Bay Club or exploring the rustic American National Parks at Disney Sequoia Lodge, each Disney Hotel is themed around a unique American setting. Staying in a Disney Hotel at Disneyland Paris truly feels like you have been transported to one of the many beautiful destinations the USA has to offer.

Did you know? Disney Newport Bay Club is named after a town in Rhode Island – America’s smallest state.
