The Power of a Disney Wish: Megan’s Story

Before we enter a new year, we’re reflecting on the special moments that made 2022 one to remember.

This year, Disney Cruise Line launched a brand-new cruise ship, the Disney Wish. And as part of this historic moment, we reimagined the tradition of naming a ship “godmother” by instead honoring the children of Make-A-Wish, including past, present and future wish recipients, as the first-ever godchildren of a Disney ship! Three Make-A-Wish ambassadors joined us for the Disney Wish’s christening ceremony in June, and while they were here, they experienced a different kind of Disney magic.

For 16-year-old Megan, this wasn’t just an opportunity to be part of Disney Cruise Line history … it was her wish come true! Megan’s wish to meet an Imagineer was granted in grand style as she joined the creative team behind the newest Disney Cruise Line ship at the Walt Disney Imagineering campus at Walt Disney World Resort as well as a special tour of the Disney Wish itself.

Follow along to see more of Megan’s incredible journey in the video below:

Since 1980, Disney and Make-A-Wish have granted life-changing wishes for more than 145,000 children with critical illnesses around the world. Historically, one out of every two wishes granted in the U.S. through Make-A-Wish has been a Disney wish, with many of these wishes involving visits to global Disney destinations and sailings with Disney Cruise Line.

We hope you enjoyed this opportunity to get to know our amazing and inspiring Make-A-Wish godchildren ambassadors! In case you missed them, check out the videos of Jenna and Colby as well.

May your new year be filled with wonder, optimism and wishes come true!

  • Why is the imagination contest still posting “ Due to ongoing limitations on travel and gatherings, we are unable to present our traditional, in-person Imaginations Design Competition this year. We remain committed to this important initiative and are currently assessing the potential of a modified experience. Thank you for your interest, and please continue to check back for updates.”. If it’s because of China’s policies consider moving it
