Have you seen the “Grand” New Gingerbread House in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort? Standing at over 7 ½ feet tall and 12 feet wide, this creation took a team of 25 talented artists, engineers and bakers more than 1,400 hours to create.
What goes into a gingerbread house of this scale?
- 600 lbs. of gingerbread
- 600 lbs. of powdered sugar
- 12 gallons of egg whites
- 3.5 gallons of lemon juice
- 150 lbs. of fondant
- 1 lb. of Pixie Dust
If the aroma of gingerbread makes you hungry, gingerbread and snowman shortbread cookies are available for sale. Or bring home a piece of the magic with the Mickey Elf Mug filled with cookies or traditional German stollen bread served in a Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa exclusive souvenir box. Hot chocolate, hot cider and pumpkin hot chocolate are also available (adults can add rum to any of these).
Don’t forget to look for Hidden Mickeys – there are several in this year’s design.

I was pointed to this article by an email that said “click here for locations” and all I see if Grand Cali. What are the other locations?
How long will this be on display? We arrive at Disneyland on January 7th. Will we still have a chance to see this grand gingerbread house?
This gingerbread house is grand! It certainly is a work of art. Disney never ceases to amaze me. I just returned from Walt Disney World and enjoyed seeing the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian and the Frozen gingerbread display at the Contemporary. I bought lots of baked cookies and treats to bring home to family and friends. The gingerbread men and toy soldiers in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas parade are my favorite. I wish Disney would offer gingerbread themed ornaments and Christmas cards. They would certainly be on my tree.
