Benton Harbor High School in Benton Harbor, Mich., hadn’t had a winning football season since 1989. That all changed when retired college football coach Elliot Uzelac entered the picture and helped the team snap their 25-year losing streak, ultimately taking them all the way to the district playoffs. Not only did 74-year-old Coach “U” turn around this underdog team, but he touched the lives of these students that come from an extremely under-privileged district. He became a father figure to these young men… many of whom come from single-parent homes. He helped them realize their own potential both on and off the field.
