Downtown Disney Hosts Splash! Animals This Fall

posted on October 13th, 2009 by Heather Hust Rivera, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, The Walt Disney Company

That high-energy, interactive show is what artist Stephen Fishwick calls “speed painting – a collection of music, art, choreography and lots and lots of flying paint.” In August, Splash! Animals performed for the first time at the Downtown Disney District, outside Rainforest Cafe. Visitors loved the performance so much that Splash! Animals will be coming back for more performances. You can catch the free shows at the Downtown Disney District on October 17-18, November 6-7 and November 13-14.

It’s not just entertaining. It’s art with a purpose. The artists primarily paint endangered animals and focus their efforts on generating awareness of endangered species. After seeing the show, Corrie Mann from Ivins, Utah, said: “It was a real eye-opener for me. I didn’t know elephants were endangered and I didn’t know cheetahs were either. The show was educational as well as entertaining.”

Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

While this is a cool start, it would be nice if they had a gallery next to the stage where you could buy the paintings (hopefully at prices everyone can afford) and all of the money would go to that animal. Not only would that get people excited about conservation, but they would help the cause as well.
