That’s right, No. 1! Disney Cruise Line was named the top cruise line by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine last night at the 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards ceremony in New York City. Samantha Brown, renowned travel expert and television host on The Travel Channel, presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz at the gala.

Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz

While Disney Cruise Line has received over 50 different awards since the company’s beginning in 1998, this award marks a first when it comes to recognition of this caliber. The award is part of the magazine’s annual readers’ survey that recognizes the best in travel for resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies. Disney was honored in the Mega-Ship category.

In addition, the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine also recently named Disney Cruise Line the Top Family-Friendly Large-Ship Cruise Line in their 2010 World’s Best Awards poll.

As Karl commented during his acceptance remarks for the Condé Nast Traveler award last night, this recognition is a testament to the cast and crew members who make the magic happen for our guests, “We build spectacular ships, explore exotic destinations and deliver entertainment that is uniquely Disney, but what our guests remember most is the personal touch that only our crew members can deliver.”

To that, I echo Karl’s remarks and offer congrats to my colleagues both ashore and aboard for achieving this incredible honor!

  • The secret is out! We’ve cruised many different lines, but have fallen for DCL.Starting in 02 on the Wonder,East Bound Panama Canal in 08′ Alaska in ’10 and many more in between. I’d like to see Samantha Brown tape an episode on the Magic or Wonder. Or Do I? The Cove is crowded enough already some mornings. Never mind forget what I said. It is a horrible cruise, you’ll have a terrible time. It always rains….. 🙂

  • My wife & I have been cruising with Disney for 10 years and have been on 10 cruises ranging from the Eastern & Western Carribean, “Back to Back” cruises, Panama Transition, European and for next year Alaska & the new Disney Dream. We have truly experienced the “Magic” on our voyages & even got married by Captain Tom on the Disney Magic back in 2002. You guys more than deserve this recognition! Keep on Crusing!!!

  • As always anything Disney touches turns to gold….Ears off to DCL and its staff. Just got back from my first Disney Cruise and can’t wait to book the next.

  • I always knew that Disney Cruise Line was the best. I made the mistake of trying another line several years ago and will not float with anyone now but the best. You, Disney are it. My next cruise is already booked for February 2011. Can’t wait for the new ships to go on longer cruises. I don’t do the smaller ones anymore.

  • Yay!DCL is the best, it’s no wonder they keep winning so many awards!
Can’t wait to get onboard to my cruise on the Dream in 2011~

  • Way to go! We’ve been sailing with DCL since 2000 and it’s no surprise that DCL has received this award. The cruises and services keeps getting better every time we are on the ship and each vacation has become very memorable. This year we did both the European Norther Capitals and Transatlantic cruises. We can’t wait till we sail with Disney to Alaska next year. Looking forward to hearing about the 2012 itineraries!!!!

  • OM-GOODNESS, of course DCL deserves this award. I have been on a few Disney cruises,(and many more I hope to come) and every cast member, has been the most friendly, helpful, and courteous, no matter what I needed or asked.Thank you also, the “captains” and “crew” for keeping us safe.CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL

  • DCL deserves this award and more!!! The reason is the fantastic cast and crew members. When you have the best servers as we did on this summers cruises, it makes your trip so much more fun. Thank you Vishal and Veronica!!! Disney Cruise Line is not just for kids. I would encourage adults to try Disney; you won’t be sorry. The entertainment, restaurants, nighclubs, and room accomodations are excellent. We have gone on 7 Disney cruises and have 3 more booked for 2011 (all on the new Dream ship). Can’t wait!

  • Congrats to DCL. I have cruised with Princess and in my opinion DCL blows them out of the water.Booked on the newest ship, The Dream for Sept.2011. This will be our second DVC Member Cruise, can’t wait.

  • Congratulation DCL! It is well deserved. I can’t wait for our next DCL cruise 1 year and 2 days away.

  • Congratualtions to the DCL on being voted #1 for 2010! So looking forward to my cruise on the Disney Wonder in a few weeks. The family and I are excited and anxious…we just can’t wait. I have heard nothing but wonderful comments and experiences that others have encountered with the DCL. Bon Voyage! ºoº

  • Been on 4 Disney Cruises with our 5th booked for next March. We are soooo thrilled that the Wonder will be making the west coast her new home. We have had several opportunities to travel on other lines, but we won’t leave Disney. Even our teenagers INSIST on only Disney. Disney has ALWASYS been number 1 in our family, congrats on the award!!!

  • You ain’t seen nothin yet. Wait til the two new ships are launched, and new destinations added.

  • I loved DCL… have only done it once. Looking forward to doing DCL when it comes here to Vancouver, Canada and sails to Alaska!
    Congratulations.

  • Congrats!!!! to all DLC employees you are the reason that Disney is #1 you make our dream vacations come true. Can’t wait for May for our next cruise, aboard the DREAM.

  • What a well deserved award. For our 25th Wedding Anniversary we combined a stay in the Polynesian with a cruise on the Disney Wonder and it was AWESOME. Congratulations, DCL!

  • THAT’S SO AWESOME! We haven’t been on a cruise at all… yet! Our first one should be A DISNEY CRUISE! Targeting 2011!!! All aboard!!! 😉

  • Congrats to the DCL! Having experienced both the Eastern and Western Caribbean 7-day itineraries, I have to agree that Disney does it best. The service was UN-Believable making both WDW and DL pale in comparison. We have never felt so pampered in our lives. Kudos to The Disney Cruise Line! We can’t wait to sail with you again on the new ships!
