Many of you have been asking for an update on the reimagining of Test Track – Presented by Chevrolet at Epcot, and I’m happy to say that we finally have some news to share: The attraction will officially reopen to guests on December 6.
When Test Track reopens, this reengineered attraction will allow guests to experience the fun world of automotive design firsthand. Guests will first enter a Design Studio and make a series of selections (as an individual or a group) to create their ideal virtual custom concept vehicle. They then board a six-passenger SimCar for a test drive to see how their own design compares to the attraction’s SimCar in Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness and Power.
And it sounds like the post-show will be just as much fun. Here, guests can see how well their car performed, and race it over changing terrains and extreme conditions on a digital driving table. Guests can also produce and star in a TV commercial for their custom cars, explore a Chevrolet showroom that will feature the latest models, and more.

Any news on soft opening times?? This is my daughters favorite ride and we will be leaving on 12/1 to head home!
I know you said before that you didn’t have any information about a soft opening for November; however, what might you think the chances are of an earlier opening/soft opening? I hate that I booked my trip back in January I doubt I will ever book so early again. Nonetheless, I know that I would have really liked to go on this ride sometime between November 10th and the 15th.
I REALLY want to enjoy the New Fantasyland AND ride Test Track when I am there November 27th through December 3rd. This is the last time we will get to go for awhile and I am hoping for soft openings for both while I am there!!!! Please!! 🙂
I iwll be visiting for a week starting at Thanksgiving. Any way I can get into the New Fantasyland during that time?
I have a question, since this is a new sim ride, does that mean the actual track is gone? The best part of the ride was the track.
It is not a simulator. The attraction’s new ride vehicle just happens to be called a SimCar.
Mariah, I heard that its going to be the same ride system as the original test track, just with updated ride vehicles and show scenes and that it is not being converted to a sim. I second Jessica’s question, any news on a soft opening?
Has there been any response to all the soft opening questions? I am hoping the answer is yes!
I’m really confused, can someone help me out here? Is Test Track now a Sim Ride, like Sum of All Thrills, or is this sim stuff just in the queue? I get motion sickness on sim rides and Test Track was my favorite ride in the park. I’m heading back this Christmas, and I’d hate to stand in the huge Christmas crowd lines just to ride something that’ll make me sick.

Another request for soft opening updates. We’ll arrive just in time for a lot of the New Fantasyland soft openings (SO excited) and are hoping to catch this one, too!

Jennifer, do you know if there will be an Annual Passholder preview prior to the opening? We are headed down Thanksgiving week and will get to take part in the Fantasyland AP preview. I sure hope there will be, if not we’ll just have to wait until we return in March!

December 6th?! We’re gonna miss it by one day! Our second day at Epcot is scheduled for December 5 and we’re at Magic Kingdom on the 6th. I was really hoping it would be open prior to the 6th as it is our 10 year old son’s favorite 🙁
We get there on the 6th – I picked a good time too! All I want to do is ride it – do you have to do all those other things?
No – The FastPass and Single Rider lines allow for an expedited queue experience so be sure to check that out.

When we started planning our trip at the beginning of the year, we went back and forth deciding between October (we’d be just getting back) or mid-December. In the end December worked out better for us, scheduling-wise, so that’s what we picked. I was ecstatic when I found out the opening date for new Fantasyland is only a few days before we arrive! So excited that Test Track will be open in time as well!

Have I hit the mother load or what? I planned for this vacation back in January. The wife and I will be down from December 1st to the 9th.. First it was announced that the new Fantasyland will open on December 6th. Now Test Track will be open.. My calculations almost worked to the day.. Am I going to be busy that weekend.. This will give me more incentive to go in January when my daughter runs the Marathon.. Man did I get lucky…

Awesome! Cant wait to see it. Really missed it being open on our last trip in August. I guess this is another excellent excuse to plan another trip – SOON!!
