As the Rebel Alliance continues its fight for freedom and democracy in the Star Wars galaxy, the phantom puppetmaster himself, Darth Sidious (aka Emperor Palpatine), has issued a new galactic decree about Star Wars Weekends 2014 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
While some of his blue-hued holographic transmission was garbled, the Emperor has ordered his Galactic Empire to create a demonstration of force and power that can be seen high above Disney’s Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends 2014. This has caused much talk in the galaxy that a gala fireworks show featuring Star Wars music will be presented each evening this year.
When consulted, several protocol droids further translated the Emperor’s message. These translations reinforced the conclusions that there will be a new evening experience for Star Wars Weekends guests on Hollywood Blvd. in the Walt Disney World Resort theme park.
However, that’s not the end of this story.
When the Rebel Alliance secretly learned of the Emperor’s plans from a hidden message decoded from an astromech droid, they decided to extend the galactic gala one more weekend in 2014.
In order to convince more guests to join the Rebellion, a 5th weekend is now being added to Star Wars Weekends 2014. The new event dates are every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 16-June 15, 2014. The theme for this year’s event is, appropriately, “Join the Rebellion.”

- Weekend II: May 23 – 25, 2014
- Weekend III: May 30 – June 1, 2014
- Weekend IV: June 6 – 8, 2014
- Weekend V: June 13 – 15, 2014
In addition to offering a first-look at this year’s event logo above, we’re pleased to announce James Arnold Taylor will return to Star Wars Weekends 2014 as the event’s official celebrity host. Taylor, a Star Wars Weekends fan favorite, is the voice of hundreds of animated characters, including Obi-Wan Kenobi on “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

This is my first time doing the star wars week. I heard that you need tickets to be able to see the actors that are coming. Is that true and how do you get the tickets?
Will this new weekend be something special, perhaps a little different from the other weekends, or is it simply an extension of Star Wars Weekends?
I plan on going on the 2nd week and looking forward to it. I am starting to wonder when the announcements will be for who will be at the weekends though…
Usually we know about now who the Celebrity Guests will be (A year ago today actually), and with this year starting early, you’d think we’d have an announcement or hint. Any idea when we’ll know? Thanks!

Can’t wait, the only other SW weekend we attended my daughter was so young (just about 3) that Darth Vader was the only character she knew (though, mind you, he was the FIRST Disney character she met at the parks, even took precedence over Mickey!) and she and my wife have both developed into much bigger fans since then so we’re all looking forward to enjoying it much more this time around.
Will the hours of operation for the last weekend that was just added (June 13-15) remain the same? They show a 9am-10pm and Saturday 14th as an EMH morning. Will it change to 8am-10pm like all others SWW nights?
Do you know if the new fireworks will me no Fantasmic during Star Wars Weekends? Or is that the norm anyway? This is our first Star Wars weekends and we are super excited. Can’t wait to see the guest line up.
With the Hypersapce Hoopla taking a hiatus.. Will the schedule be released as to when events are planned to take place? My wife and I attend annually and had the times down enough to know when to plan dinner and when to avoid having plans, but with the hoopla disappearing and adding fireworks, we would like to know if our dinner plans are going to need to change. Can you direct us with a time when the schedule will be released and where we could find that information once it is released?
I really wish these weekends extended to a UK school holiday time, me and my 6 year old would love to come. Only another 12 years until he is out of school.
I just read on an unofficial Walt Disney World site that there will not be HyperSpace Hoopla this year. Please Gary, tell us it isn’t true!!!

The Hyperspace Hoopla has been retired, but will be replaced with the “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks show (set to the famous Star Wars score) and additional entertainment being created specifically for the event.
Hyperspace hoopla is the best show i hope the fireworks are being added to it and not replacing it.
To clarify, does this mean Ashley Eckstein will not be co-hosting?
That is correct. James Arnold Taylor is the celebrity host of the 2014 edition of Star Wars Weekends.

Our talented team at Disney Design Group created this year’s event logo. The logo takes inspiration from the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels, as well as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. (I’m also partial to seeing our pal R2-MK featured.)

Gary, Yes… the main art each year is traditionally sold as a T-shirt, Pin, Coffee Mug, Poster, etc during all of the Weekends.

Similar to when C-3PO shut himself down in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the Hyperspace Hoopla has been sent into a little Rebel Alliance “retirement” after last year’s event. Our teams are working on some new entertainment elements for this year’s event, in addition to the “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks show that has been popular with our guests during its limited performances in past years.

There are not any plans in 2014 for a Star Wars Weekends event at Disneyland Resort.
