One of the things guests love most about Disney Parks is the way they immerse guests in a story, often down to the tiniest details. Today we begin a new series here on the Disney Parks Blog that will invite you to take a closer look at details you might have missed in some of your favorite attractions or maybe even details you may have noticed and always wondered about! This month, let’s dig deeper with one of history’s most famous archaeologists at Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland park.
From the moment you enter the queue, Indiana Jones Adventure transports you to the past with immersive details and interactive elements. Take a close look into Indy’s office and you’ll find 1930s copy of “Life” magazine featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse on the cover.
There are also nods to the famous films. The wall of Indy’s office is made of crates, one of which is labeled, “Deliver to Club Obi Wan.” This is a reference to the opening sequence of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” – which takes place in Club Obi Wan, itself an homage another famous Lucasfilm character. (If you can name this reference – of course you can – leave your guess in the comments!)
There are also clues to the adventure ahead. Next to his desk, you will find a bulletin board posted with correspondence between Indy and Sallah as well as a large map of the entire temple drawn by Dr. Jones himself. Depicted here are traps, landmarks and even a guide to which gifts can be found behind each of the doorways inside the Chamber of Destiny.
There are even hidden details to find once on board your troop transport. Past a menacing 45-foot-tall decaying skull of Mara and before a lunging 100-foot long King Cobra, you’ll see a skeleton wearing Mickey ears embroidered with the name “Bones.”
The Temple of the Forbidden Eye is full of many more immersive details. The next time you make your way through the temple passageways, keep an eye out for archaeological tools, traps and even try to decipher some of the Maraglyphics carved into the walls.

What a great post. As far as favorites from this ride I’d have to say all of the many nods towards the film franchise that this is based on. In font of the ride before you enter, the 2.5 ton Mercedes-Benz truck is the actual vehicle used in the desert chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark and the mining car near the truck was used in the mine scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. So many more to add…

I have a few favorite details in this ride along with those listed here.
The tribute to former Disney president Frank Wells (FW) in Mara script and the stickers on the CM ride control console, that includes “The Raven Bar”.
That said, the acknowledgement of one of the most dedicated Imagineer’s of Disneyland, Tony Baxter, with his initials placed within one of the transport vehicles ID number. Great detail and a well deserved honor for Tony.
Indy is my friends fav. attraction. Last week we rode 5 times! Her goal is 10, but with so much else to do. She rode 20 attractions that day 5 being indy.

Living on the East Coast this ride was a must do when I visited Disneyland. Such a great ride. Always fun learning about new secrets hidden in rides. Club Obi Wan from Temple of Doom ref. Obi Wan Kenobi from Star Wars A New hope of course.

As a Film Room CM, I enjoy bringing my special flashlight so I can show interested guests the Eyeore sign above the projector. I tell them they have to go around Indy’s office and come back to the doorway so they can see it better then shine my light on it.
Great idea for the blog. Club obi wan is a nod to Star Wars, naturally. My fast pass for Indy is in a few minutes so off I go and search for these interesting details!
I’ve still not successfully placed my eyes on the legendary Eeyore sign from the old parking lot area the ride took part of when they built it. Maybe someday!
I love this series idea, Erin! I remember, in the queue, there used to be a bamboo pole that you could pull or move and it sounded like you triggered some kind of a trap! We always find something new whenever we walk through there, and the ride is always the best part!

Great, new series Erin, and with one of my very favorite rides at DLR. I would have to say of the many (many, many) details in the Indiana Jones Adventure ride, one I enjoy is rope that you can pull on in the queue. I will have to keep an eye out for these other details you mention here!
