Our live broadcast of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s anniversary celebration has just concluded – but you can still catch the replay below.
Don’t forget the park’s ‘Party For the Planet’ anniversary celebration will stretch from April 22-May 5. During that time, Rafiki’s Planet Watch will take center stage for the celebration, which will offer backstage experiences that allow guests to learn about animal nutrition, visit the veterinary hospital, or hear how Disney promotes global wildlife conservation.
Guests can now catch the new show, “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” which features Russell and Dug from the Disney•Pixar animated comedy-adventure film “UP” on a daily basis. And as we previously shared, the astounding Pandora Utility Suit that studies wildlife, collects plant samples and educates guests about Pandora can now be encountered in Pandora – The World of Avatar.

My newest memory is seeing the new baby hippo and the new baby elephant on safari. Now sitting in Nomads watching the world go by. Waiting for tree of life to light up and my evening is complete. All after a days work. This really is my happy place.
My first visit to Animal Kingdom was in 2003 it was amazing my boys loved the Dinosaur ride the and a Bugs life. In later years we returned and my favorite spot is the Gorilla 🦍 habitat I started taking pictures of them as often as I could following the birth and growth of the babies . I really hope to see many great things upon my next return to the park especially the possible addition of Zooptopia… Happy 20 years and here is to 💯 + more
My most recent memory is arriving at 7am today and standing in line until 10am at discovery traders then being told the Rohde print had already sold out. Went outside to see the ceremony and was told by the cast member at the stage in front of the tree that the ceremony was cancelled. Just got home and saw Joe Rohde tweeted it was in the Lion King theater and it was being live streamed. The link to the live stream says video unavailable. Not a very successful morning.
Couldnt keep my eyes from crying during this celebration! My first Disney visit was 18 years ago and i remember how much i loved animal kingdom, specially dinossaur and all the animals! Now, 7 visits later, i still love it as much as i loved it when i was 9! My best memory is pretty recent – I was there for the first day of Rivers of Light with my mom, we got Fast Passes and AMAZING seats! Cant wait to go back!
My favorite Animal Kingdom moment was in 2006. My best friend and I were walking towards Camp Minnie Mickey and a cast member stopped us to ask if we would like to be part of the parade later that day. We gladly accepted and had so much fun riding in the gigantic float. Happy Anniversary!
My family went to Disney World and Animal Kingdom for the first time about 3 weeks after the park opened! May 17, 1998. It was the best trip ever!
In 2007, during “The Year of a Million Dreams”, my family with my two daughters and I travelled to all five Disney Parks worldwide that existed at that time. After Disney had found out, we were treated as honorary guests. We received a private tour at the Animal Kingdom, got to feed the tigers and we met the entire cast of the Lion King Show in person. Thank you Disney for these wonderful memories.
My greatest Animal Kingdom memory is getting ENGAGED in front of the Tree of Life on July 7, 2017! A Disney PhotoPass Cast Memeber captures the whole thing! It was beautiful and magical and DAK will forever hold a very special place in my fiancé and I’s hearts!
Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Animal Kingdom.. I really want to get there and make the happiest memoriy 🙂

Last week I got to take my husband to the park for his first time on our honeymoon. It was so much fun sharing the safari and festival of the lion king with him. We are watching from CO!
We are watching as we are sitting eating breakfast at a diner in New Jersey! This is exciting for us as our daughter Jenna is working today on festival of the lion King! We are Disney vacation club members and are excited to watch the celebration! We have so many wonderful Disney memories through the years. One of the funniest and most memorable was in animal Kingdom one day when our family of over 20 people wete looking up at the swinging monkeys and someone said ” boy, those monkeys look real!” We left all day long after that and it’s been over 15 years and we still laugh about it today! Have a magical day everyone!
Happy Anniversary, Animal Kingdom!! My favorite memory was running my first race ever with my husband at Animal Kingdom in the Expedition Everest Challenge. Best. Race. Ever!
My best Disney memory at Animal Kingdom? Meeting Russell. Or admiring the epicness of the Tree of Life. Or watching the Indian dancers in Asia. Loved the Flights of Wonder bird show and am looking forward to the new UP show. Tusker House is fantastic. So is the safari ride. So much goodness at the Animal Kingdom.

My first visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom was only a few months after the park had been open and was only 2 1/2 years old. And yes, I remember it very well!
One of my favorite things of that first visit was seeing “Pocahontas & Her Forest Friends” – we got to see a possum, a skunk, a snake and Meeko, himself; seeing these animals up close was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for this little kid. Also, Sprig was the cutest!

Animal Kingdom is our favorite park! So many memories but two stick out. The Jingle Jangle Jammin’ Jungle Parade from our first Christmas visit. It was so beautiful and upbeat! The second was just last year. Our daughter was in the college program and we hadn’t seen her since January. We arrived for spring break in April and met at Tusker House for breakfast. I will never forget her running across the bridge into my arms for the best hug ever! Happy tears all around!!
My favorite moment from visiting the Animal Kingdom was the first time I experienced the Flight of Passage. It was everything it had been described as and so much more and I just can’t wait to experience it again.
My favorite Animal Kingdom memory was walking into the park for the first time. It was so inspiring to see all of the conservation work that the park does and I love learning about all of the different animals while visiting my favorite place.
I’ve had so many amazing memories at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! I lived in Florida when the park opened 20 years ago, so I’ve been visiting since I was 5! One of my favorite memories was more recent: In May 2015. I was one of the runners for the last ever Expedition Everest 5K Race with RunDisney. It was my first RunDisney race, and I couldn’t have had more fun! I loved the entertainment along the race course, especially backstage behind the Theatre in the Wild and Expedition Everest!
My favorite Animal Kingdom memory? Keeping the tradition since I was 6 months old of my family and I all wearing orange shirts. It started with my first trip to Walt Disney World and Animal Kingdom and has continued since then! Happy 20th Anniversary DAK!
My favorite memory was taking my wife Kayla for the first time after we bought DVC Animal Kingdom Lodge. We now own a lot of art from Animal Kingdom.
Happy Earth Day! Celebrating 20 year from Chile! Last year was there and happy to see how much the park has grown! Hope to visit again next year!
Our favourite Disney Animal Kingdom memory is when when I was 5 and it was being built and I couldn’t wait to go back. I have been back many of times and it is still my favourite park!!!!

I was married at Disney world in 97. we loved discovery island sponsored by friskees. when we renewed our annual passes the next year we were able to add in the new park opening up for only $1 more each It was Disneys’s quickest sale!
