Disney’s official fan community, D23, is starting off 2010 with a unique gift that’s sure to get any Disney fan excited — Disney Undiscovered: A 23-Month Calendar of Disney’s Unrealized Masterpieces.
The calendar is brimming with rare and never-before seen images from Disney theme-park, live-action and animation projects that were not completed, many of which have achieved legendary status among Disney fans. “Disney Undiscovered” features art from never-built project like the Mineral King ski resort and Walt Disney’s St. Louis Project, theme park lands such as Discovery Bay at Disneyland, and unproduced films including a watercolor from the original Little Mermaid that Walt had in early preproduction in the late 1930s.
D23 is giving Disney Parks Blog readers a first look at three of the pages in this stunning calendar. They show Mickey’s Madhouse (conceived as part of Dumbo’s Circusland at Disneyland back in 1976 before Toontown was created), the Swiss pavilion at Epcot (designed in 1985 and meant to stand between the Italy and Germany pavilions), and Rock Candy Mountain (which, had it been created back in 1957, would have been Disneyland’s first “mountain”). I joined D23 on Day One and have absolutely no regrets. The surprise gifts, the amazing magazine, special events and D23 EXPO! I will be renewing and hope to do so for years to come! This calendar is awesome!

Just joined the last week of December. I haven’t gotten anything yet and there are no events listed for 2010 yet. Looks like I’ll miss out on this too… Hopefully this membership was worth it!
Is there a way to renew your membership earlier than the expiration date so we can take full advantage of the calendar?

I’m a D23 member & I love the magazine. The pictures are great & I always enjoy reading all of the articles. I’m looking forward to renewing & can’t wait to receive the calendar. The calendar is a wonderful added benefit to being a D23 member.
Looking forward to this soon! The pic of the Switzerland Pavillion makes me long for a new World Showcase pavillion. It’s been since 1988 that Norway made its grand appearance. Looking forward to good things!?!

Kinda funny though since this art wouldn’t be located in the d23 archives, I would imagine it would be at WDI’s archives! So is D23 already out of their own stuff?
Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice. Always good to see new artwork! With so much sitting in the archives, and such high demand from the fans, it’s great to see something new actually come out.

I think this is the gift for 2010 memberships (like the litho was for 2009) so you will get it when you renew. This is why the calendar is 23 months. I can’t wait to get mine. The artwork is more amazing than I first imagined.
I also just got a Charter Membership at the end of 2009 – does this mean we will not see the calendar (unless we renew asap) until the end of 2010?
I’m with some of the others here. My husband gave me my membership for Christmas. It was the only thing I wanted! Anyway, by the time I renew the calendar will be half done. Can’t we get this earlier somehow?
Ahhh… Did I miss this? I got a D23 Membership Redemption Card for Christmas. I, of course, redeemed it Christmas Day.

Nice…but sadly my D23 was a gift I received in November 2009 so by the time I am renewed I will miss a large time period! 🙁
