Cast Members Making a Difference

Cast Members Making a Difference

I recently had an opportunity to observe and photograph two cast members at the Magic Kingdom, each doing their part to create smiles for guests young and old alike. A merchandise hostess welcomed guests along Main Street, USA with a great smile and a “you-know-who” glove.

And a second cast member from Magic Kingdom Operations was also spreading smiles — delighting children with bubbles as they waited for the afternoon parade.

Both cast members said they were convinced that they had the coolest jobs around. And I believe it showed. So, what’s your dream Disney job?

Comments

  • I would have to say that my dream Disney job would be any one where I could ‘turn that frown upside down’! It’s such a wonderful feeling to cheer someone up & spread a little magic. I love the Cast Members high-lighted above because that is what their job is all about! Lots of times when my family has been at Disney Parks, we see kids, young & old, who are tired & cranky because it’s a lot of work to walk around & have so much fun all day in the hot hot sun. A wonderful smiling Cast Member spreading pixie dust is just exactly what they need! It’s the little things that make my family so happy at Disney! My dream Disney job? Magic Maker! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Its great how the cast members are always working to make your experience at Disney as Magical as Possible. I have always wanted to be an Imagineer at Disney. A job more in the parks would be a monorail pilot!

  • I have always wanted to be an Imagineer.
Disney is the most magical job out there.
When I was little I use to draw pictures of rides that I wanted to create for Disney.

  • I like when i leave Epcot upon closing the cast members that stand there with the big mickey hands giving ‘high-fives’. I always make a point to give a high-five back ๐Ÿ™‚ The service at Disney World is what makes it superior to any other park out there. Ever seen that unenthused/no smile/no excitement high school or college kid working the roller coaster or water slide at a traditional theme park? This is what makes Disney bar none to others.

  • I would love to work in Magic Kingdom as a cast member that makes children and families happy. It is literally my dream job. I hope that when I get out of college I can move down to Florida and work at Disney. I honestly feel like it’s my calling! Working at the happiest place in the world, making others happy… what else could you ask for?

  • My husband and I have actually discussed this several times. He would like to be a street sweeper, he likes the idea of all the interaction he could have, and being able to go anywhere in the park. And I thought being a PhotoPass photographer would be a lot of fun because people come to you wanting their picture taken, and they are excited! I could be a part of making their visit magical by getting that perfect shot in front of the their favorite spot!

  • The CMs are what make Disney such a magical place. The customer service, although not what it once was, is still superior to almost any place in the world. The little things make a BIG difference.

I would LOVE to be a photographer for Disney. Two of my favorite things…Disney and photography. I don’t know that I could take the Orlando heat in the summer so I may have to require an inside job.:)

  • My Disney dream job is to be a Cast Member, period. They make the magic in Disney Parks. I always end up socializing most with the popcorn vendor Cast Members, but still, all of the CMs have a special job that I appreciate to the fullest. Eventually, though, I want my official career to be a Disney Imagineer, and that truly is my dream job!

  • I would love to work at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! I remember how happy my daughter was last year when she was called Ariel and Princess for the entire day. She can not wait to go back this year and make her second choice of who she wants to be. I want to be that person who makes a little girl beam and smile from ear to ear. What an amazing feeling that would be. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • My daughter is a cast member and she told me a story recently about a little boy going through his mom’s change to find a specific state quarter and was upset that he still didn’t have it. My daughter proceeded to go through all the quarters in her drawer and found the one he needed! He was very excited and the mom was grateful! I told her those are the little things that make the Disney difference!!

  • I would love to take the Photopass pictures infront of the main symbols of each park (the hat, tree of life, giant golf ball). I think that would be awsome plus it looks like loads of fun.

  • I would love to be one of the Fairies! I live in Orlando and have actually been thinking of applying for either a job as a PhotoPass Photographer or to try to audition to be a Fairy.

  • Working as a evil villian in the stage shows!

  • I’ve been a dancer since I was 2 so I would have to say my dream Disney job would be in entertainment. The performances of all kinds at Disney are always magical and it has always been my dream to be a part of that ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I think it would just be cool to be able to work at Disney….the whole place is just so magical.

  • O my goodness!! Emporium cast member alert! Was a CM and miss it sooooo much! Just making magic EVERYDAY was incredible and cant wait to be done with school so i can go back to work for such an amazing company ,which i love!!! GO EMPO .. Empo forever ๐Ÿ˜€

  • my wife and i will retire in about 6 years and be in our 50’s at that point. we’ve talked about retiring to the orlando area and working part time for disney. she’d like to be a salesperson for the vacation club. i’d be happy to drive a bus and give people random, helpful facts about the parks. however, on a volunteer basis, i’d be happy to walk around the parks and resorts with an observant eye, and look at things while thinking, “how can this be even better?”

  • My Disney dream job would definitely be monorail pilot. I think they’re cool and awesome. Transporting people to different area’s without hassle, or giving a kid a chance to honk the horn giving him/her a great time while they ride the monorail. That’s my big dream of working with disney as a cast member.

  • Since I was a little girl, my dream has always been to be a character for a day. I don’t have a specific character in mind…I would be anyone as all of them bring smiles to children’s faces.

Now that I am a mother, I would also love to be a mom on the Mom’s Panel! Nothing brings more joy to my day to day routine than talking about a Disney trip…especially helping a friend plan a Disney family vacation!

  • I am a Pre-K teacher by profession..and I adore what I do. Any job at Disney World, and especially Cinderella’s Castle (my favorite place on earth) would make me happy. I’d love to be able to great, an put smiles on the faces of the children and the adults they have in tow. Since WDW is my favorite place, I’d love to be able to interact with the public either at the Magic Kingdom, or Animal Kingdom. It’s the only thing I think would top what I already do.

  • I want to be a Disney travel agent, so that I can know the ways to save people money and make it more affordable for more people to experience Disney!!!

  • My husband and I have talked about this…a lot. He would love to drive the train at MK or a monorail. Since I am no longer Princess sized or age, I would love to be the fairy godmather. My other dream disney job would be to work in the Baby Care Center or First Aid at MK or EPCOT. Someday we hope to move south and make these dreams reality.

  • I’ve always wanted to work the overnight crews who clean attractions or place decorations or displays. I’d love to see the parks that way. Another great job would be one of the tour guides. I could finally use all this Disney knowledge I have acquired.

  • My dream job would be to be an imagineer! I currently do civil engineering and design roadways and i would give anything to be able to design anything for Disney! Anything from resorts to parks to the roads around Disney World! That would be the ultimate dream come true! Another dream job of mine would be to be one of the CMs that wears a Mickey hand and waves goodnight to all the guests exiting the Magic Kingdom from atop of the train station! Saying goodnight to all the guests that had a magic day would give me a feeling that i could never describe!

  • Without a doubt I would like to be a member of the “Dream Team” from the “Year of a Million Dreams”! Why not bring it back next year to celebrate 40 years at WDW!

  • It may seem odd, but I’d love to work in signage and visual design upkeep. I’d love to keep the place looking as fresh as the day it opened. Last night my wife found an old photo of my family and I in front of the castle and you can see 10th anniversary banners in front of the castle path. Somebody got to make those then, why not me now? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Would just be happy to be in a position to make people smile and what better place to do that than @WDW! People can forget sometimes in the heat and the rush that they are surrounded by “magic”. Sometimes, it just takes a little extra effort on the part of CM to bring them back to why they chose Disney.

  • The friendly, exceptional Cast Members are an important part of the magic for my family on our vacation! They really do make a difference!

  • I was a Cast Member at the Bakery on Main Street USA! I was also fortunate enough to work at EPCOT for the Food & Wine Festival and at Columbia Harbor House as well. I have to say Main Street was the best. Watching the fireworks and parade every night was amazing. Not to mention the looks on everyone’s faces when watching Wishes for the first time. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I know my husband once said he’d like to be one of the boat captains on the lake in EPCOT or the one that takes you back and forth to the Magic Kingdom!! I would love to be a shop lady on Main Street!! My youngest wants to be one of the Princesses but was told there is a height requirement, which devastated her. She’s celebrating her honeymoon in DisneyWorld right now!

Maybe when we retire we’ll get jobs there!!

  • My Disney Dream Job would being a CM again in the MK. I would love to be on Main Street. Watching all the guests pour in from the gates and seeing their expressions as they walk into the park. I want to be apart of their vacation and show and talk to them about special things that will make their vaction as magical as possible. I would love to me a Photopass photographer at Main Street. *o*

  • My dream has always been to sing in a disney movie. I still have tapes and cds of all the disney movie (even a tape with all the park music) and when I was little I was sing and dance to the music. I had a whole broadway show in my little room. I still think it would be so much fun! I have also become very interested in photography and love that Disney has people placed all around to capture people’s memories when they may not have a camera at their fingertips.

  • I would like to be one of their engineers. I would love to make sure that Disney is safe for everyone and their families.

  • I have actually applied, twice. I have a current application in for a Job Captain on the architecture team. I would love to do what I do everyday for Disney! My absolute dream job, which I applied for a few years back, is with the nightly fireworks. I’m a licensed pyrotechnician and I have always thought cream of the crop was working on a Disney display.

  • My Disney dream job would to eventually be the cruise director for one of the three incredible Disney ships, but mainly the Disney Dream. I’m about to graduate high school and am going to college to study hospitality and management for such a career as that.

  • I would love to be friends with a character, like Baloo, who is my favorite. I probably would have a hard time dealing with the heat, but I really would love to do that job. Giving out some big bear hugs and autographs, posing for pictures and just making families smile:-)

  • The best CM for me is either working in their PR dept. Or as a guide at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

  • I would be afraid that working as a CM would ruin the magic for me..That the JOB part of it would take away some of the magic that we see as guests..I would definitely love to be a Haunted Mansion CM!!

  • My 12 year old daughter says she would love a job being any of the characters so she could get hugs all day every day !!!! =)

  • The Emporium on Main Street. I also was a CM at the Emporium and I miss it very much. It wasn’t a job it was fun! It was exciting and fun and always easy to smile. I hope to go back some day soon. Thanks Mr. Disney for all of it!

  • I would love to work at Disney in many areas. My husband and I are already planning to retire in Florida to work part time at Disney. I would love to do the Photo Pass photography, help plan vacation (already do this for all our family/friends), work in the Emporium…althoug then I should just sign over my paycheck, work on any of our favorite rides (there are MANY!) or even just walk around the parks looking for people that might seem lost and offer some help.

We would also like to volunteer to be escorts/guides for Make a Wish trips. Getting to see other people have the same type of excitement we have everytime we go would be so awesome!!!

Disney has done a lot for us. It is a place that we can go and have millions of different experiences all in the same day without worrying if it is wheelchair accessible. Everything is and we are so taken care of…there really isn’t any comparison.

  • Tinkerbell, without a doubt! In my dream world, I’d be Tinkerbell all say long in Toon Town and then fly out of the castle every night. It would be pretty perfect!

  • I don’t know what my dream job would be but my 8 year old would say he wants to drive the Walt Disney train. We took him for his first trip to Disney World in June and when he found out that Walt had the same passion for trains as he does it made the trip even more magical for him.

  • It is my dream to be a Disney Princess! I would love to see the faces of each and every child light up as I embrace them and make a lasting impression on their lives. It is a truly magical experience and one that will be remembered forever. I would be honored to be apart of that.

  • I’ve benn dancing since I was three so I’d love to be a dancer in a stage show or a parade.
However, I think my dream job would be to work as an Imagineer, to be able to draw concept art for the attractions, restaurants, streets…when I was little I even constructed rides with Lego:-)

  • I would love to work on the horticulture at Disneyworld. I feel it is often overlooked by the vast majority of Disneyworld visitors. But for those of us that do notice, the flowers and greenery at Disneyworld are absolutely beautiful.

  • My dream job at a Disney Park would be behind the scenes. Walt specified his park(s) be constructed behind berms to keep the real world at bay so staging of the fantasy would not be spoiled. Visitors look forward to visiting a Disney Park specifically to have fun and forget the real world, if only for a short time. This land of make believe requires constant maintenance and TLC to remain convincing. Sadly, evidence of the real world creeping past the berms are everywhere. I would love to help maintain a Disney Park; to share the responsibility to keep Walt’s dream and the vision of the original Imagineers intact and vibrantly alive!

  • This is why we return to Disney year after year. I really wish the rest of the world ran like Disney….

  • I have always dreamed of being a Disney Princess…or Goofy! Ever since I was little I have loved Disney, and have always fantasized about being a part of that world (Ariel…haha!). Of course, being a girl I have always loved the princesses, but Goofy always makes me laugh! I’d love to be Goofy and make other little kids laugh too ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I think it would just be so magical to work at Disney.
