Last fall, Disney Parks Blog readers met Owen, one of our newest horses at the Disneyland Resort, in our three-part “How a Horse Becomes a Disneyland Horse” series. As we told you in the last post, the final step for training is getting accustomed to Main Street, U.S.A., where the horses are the stars of the show! Let’s catch up with Owen, who is completing this final step in his Disneyland Resort education now:

  • I was a cast member on Main Street from the autumn of 1983 to the summer of 1985. My favorite team were the grays – Ben and Sam. Ben could only work with Sam, who simply needed to glance over to calm Ben down if he got nervous. They’d both stand a bit taller as they saw each other coming down the street.

Who needs Space Mountain when there are such incredible moments between the horses who help provide the first impression a visitor has upon entering Disneyland?

I can hardly wait to meet Owen in person!

  • We got on the trolly to ride with Owen on his first official trip down Main Street. But we were in a rush to get some fastpasses and didn’t want to wait for the camera crew to wrap-up.

    • You got a sneak peek at the next update to our story, Tim! Check back soon for the video from that day.

  • I think I may have seen Owen pulling one of the trolley’s the morning I was in line for the signing of Dave Smith’s book. There was a horse pulling one of the trolleys and and one of the trainers was working with the CM driver and sometimes walking side by side with the horse

    • That might have been him!
