Rubber Duck Race Benefits Charity at the Disneyland Resort

Hundreds of rubber ducks raced around the world for a cause at the 5th annual “it’s a small world” duck race! Cast members sponsored and decorated the ducks to raise more than $1,800 for Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire before Disneyland park opened for the day.

The cast fundraiser carries forward the attraction’s legacy of supporting children, dating back to the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair when it was created in honor of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

While cast members waited anxiously to see which rubber duck would race through “it’s a small world” fastest, we sent along our camera to capture the journey and winners!

  • I didn’t even know this was a thing! Very cool!

  • About how long does it take for a rubber ducky to “sail around the world” so to speak?

    • Hi Jaime – It takes about five minutes for the first few ducks to “sail around the world.”

  • We always stop to visit the Disney ducks when we’re at the parks. It would’ve been fun to see this in person. Well done on the fundraising. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow! A “duck”orating contest!

  • Loved it!! Thanks for sharing the video with us regular guests. Since this is done before the park opens. It was so exciting to see a few of my CM friends who won for how they decorated their ducks. Congrats to all the winners!!
Also love how you did this for a great and worthy charity!!

  • Such a cute idea and video. What a great cause for the castmembers to support. Congratulations to all!

  • Were you mailing the ducks to Donald after the race was over?
