We have an exciting update for fans of the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive card game – the game just got trickier.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom at Magic Kingdom Park

As you may know, in Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, guests become Merlin’s apprentice sorcerers and embark on a challenge to stop Disney villains from stealing one of the four shattered pieces of Merlin’s crystal ball. Guests search for villains’ hiding places throughout the park, and once there, use spell cards to stop the villains in their tracks.

The game offers three levels – Easy, Medium and Hard – which can be accessed based on how often and how much a guest plays. Changes were recently made to the game’s existing “Hard” level and now each time a guest plays at this level, a villain’s weakness will change, making the game different and more challenging each time.

Merlin the Magician just shared some hints with us as to how to beat villains at this level:

To figure out which spell types (Gross, Charming, Strong, Flying, Wishful, Quick or Energy) will defeat a villain, simultaneously cast several cards of differing spell types on the first turn of a battle. On that first turn, watch the power levels of the spells you’ve cast. If you watch carefully, you’ll learn which spell type worked best against the villain. When you see a spell hit the villain at full power, you’ll know that’s the type of spell you need to cast.

No changes have been made to the Easy and Medium levels.

  • The medium was changed also. We were down the end of September and my husband was disappointed because he finally decided to go medium ( we only get down twice a year) and it was changed where your cards lost there power and went back down to level one

  • When and is the second set coming out?

  • The kids in the pictures in the gallery are using Beta cards! Can I trade?! 😉 j/k

    • 🙂

  • Jennifer, you said that the Medium difficulty would not be changing.

However, a couple of days ago, when I was playing the game in the park, the Medium difficulty was being made the same as the revised Hard mode. Did they fix it since then, to bring Medium back to the way it was?

    • Just reconfirmed with our SOTMK team – no changes to medium.

  • How can you tell what level your spell is working at? Also, how many cards can be played at once?

    • Each spell has 3 power levels. If you play up to Hard level, you’ll have an idea of what a spell looks like when it’s cast at its most powerful.

You can play lots of cards at one time, but the exact number can vary from location to location. A player can rest assured that if a villain is weak to a card a player has cast, the player will see that spell hit the villain.

  • So it is definatly the attack type (Gross, Flying etc) that matters? Not the Spell type (Toy Animal etc?) when trying to win on hard level? How about the changes that havebeen noted on medium that the standard attack types (Gross for Yzma Energy for Ursula etc) no longer work on the medium level either?

Thanks for the insight and look forward to playing again.

    • Yes, it is definitely the attack type. There have been no changes to the Medium level. Medium is played the same way as it always was and the villain weaknesses haven’t changed for that level.

  • Wow, thanks Jennifer!

    • You’re welcome!
