Creative Fries at Golden Oak Outpost in Magic Kingdom Park

Golden Oak Outpost, the unassuming little spot in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park, used to be a perfect quick stop for a spicy fried chicken breast sandwich or chicken breast nuggets. Now they’ve added a whole new menu of creative waffle fries with toppings that make the humble potato a meal.

How about BLT waffle fries, topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato and a drizzle of Ranch dressing? Or the BBQ pork waffles fries topped with pork and creamy slaw. Our favorite combo is the Tex-Mex creation, topped with black bean-cucumber relish, warm Cheddar cheese sauce and spicy jalapeño slices. And an ode to Canadian fast food is the “poutine-style” fries, topped with brown gravy and white Cheddar cheese.
Sweet Potato Tots

If you’re looking for something a little less adventurous, they’ve added hot, crunchy sweet potato nuggets.

If you’ve tried the new waffle fries, do you have a favorite?

  • These are FANTASTIC!!!!!!

I was at MK last week and tried the BBQ pork waffle fries and the “poutine” fries as well.

The “Poutine” fries are not shredded cheese but chunky soft curds and the BBQ pork fries are a great value as they come with a big mound of pulled pork.
I wanted to try the others and the sweet potato nuggets but didn’t get a chance to go back.

  • Pam,
Just when you think they can’t top potatoes and fries,(they are already on the top of my food chain)! the Outpost takes fries to the next level! I am so excited to visit and try these unbelievably delicious looking creations!

  • I had the Tex Mex Fries today. Yummy! I just wish they gave more fries.

  • Will the Poutine style fries have cheese curds or shredded cheese?

  • Will those delicious Corn Nuggets be part of the menu? We sure miss them.

  • Are the sweet potato nuggets vegan?

  • Are any of these options gluten free?

  • Is the chicken sandwich still available as well? It’s one of my favorite things in the park!

    • Hi Lisa,
The full Golden Oak Outpost menu is available here. Have you tried the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square? It’s one of our favorites!

  • This is a GREAT idea for the Golden Oak location!!! I’ll be stopping by soon.

    • See you real soon!

  • These look awesome! Would love to see an addition of something with chicken someday too. I don’t eat pork, but I would be all over a different meat option.

  • Okay, now I am down right famished – does Disney deliver? Must I really wait until spring 2015? uh…YUM!!!

    • Yum, indeed!

  • @takahiro…looks like $5.99 each ($2.99 for the sweet potato ones).

  • @Michael according to the new menu online (follow the link they posted above) there is no longer any chicken at Golden Oak, just the various kinds of fries, plus drinks & desserts.

  • Is the DDP available for use here? If so, would it be QS credit or Snack credit?

  • While the fries look indulgent and super sloppy good, I hope the spicy fried chicken breast sandwich is still being served. Please tell me it is.

My family was disappointed when we visited in February and May because the outpost was closed. I used to be a diehard Pecos Bill fan, but the chicken sandwiches won me over last year–only to be teased when the location closed down,

SUMMER/HOT WEATHER TIP: Buy your lunch/snacks at the outpost then walk across the “street” to the Pecos Bill dining area for a nice cool place to eat all those sloppy fries.

    • Hi Michael,
You can see the full Golden Oak Outpost menu here. If you are looking for a chicken sandwich at Magic Kingdom Park, we suggest checking out the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square!

  • I remember when Pinocchio’s in Fantasyland at WDW had Figaro Fries. They were the best thing on the menu so it is nice to see they are making a comeback in Frontierland. I do have 1 question: Are the Creative Fries on the Qucik Service Dining Plan?

    Thanks in Advance!

    • Hi Katie,
At this time, the Specialty Waffle Fries are not on the Disney Dining Plan. However, the Sweet Potato Nuggets are.

  • These look life-changing, I will definitely be trying some in November!!

    • I agree, Susan. They are delish!

  • How much are they? I wanna try crunchy sweet potato nuggets.

    • Hi Takahiro,
The Sweet Potato Nuggets are $2.99 and are available as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan.
