As I mentioned earlier this month on the Disney Parks Blog, the doctor is officially in. Doc McStuffins that is. Youngsters can now see their favorite toy doctor just outside the vet clinic at Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The new character greeting location was just what the doctor ordered for my friend’s 3-year-old daughter who squealed with delight when we ventured to the park to see the star from Disney Junior’s hit animated series “Doc McStuffins.” And it’s pretty cool that Doc is still making daily visits to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney Junior’s Peabody Award-winning animated series “Doc McStuffins” follows the story of six-year-old Doc McStuffins who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and runs a clinic for stuffed animals and broken toys. Recently renewed for a fifth season, the series showcases the hallmarks of great Disney storytelling – fantasy and wish fulfillment – and models compassion and good health for kids age 2-7. The series airs daily on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
I think little ones are pretty psyched for this new meet and greet location. What do you think?

I am very happy that Doc is opening a new “practice” at DAK. Doc has made it so much easier for those of us in the Pediatric Health Care Field. I have been a Registered Nurse for 30+ years, almost all of it in pediatrics. And the years that weren’t in pediatrics were in general emergency where we saw kids, too….. Also over 80% of my time has been spent in Pediatric Emergency / General Emergency / Pediatric Urgent Cares. Our kids watch Doc take temperatures and blood pressures. She looks in her friends ears and she sews up their cuts and gives them stitches. Many of these kids are no longer afraid when we have to do these procedures or if they are a little bit afraid we are able to talk them through it using Doc and her pals. Obviously, it doesn’t work for everyone. There are some kids that will always be afraid, no matter what we do, but we try….
For the Nurses, Doctors, Radiology Tech’s and Medical Assistants that I work with at my urgent care, I would like to thank the people who create, produce and give voice (and everyone else on the team, too) to Doc and her friends!!!
