Yo ho, me hearties! This Saturday, March 18, marks 50 years of “rascals and scoundrels … villains and knaves” with the anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland park, and we’re planning to celebrate with scoundrels and scallywags alike!
Beginning Thursday, March 16, guests can feast upon special pirate-themed grub at French Market Restaurant, Mint Julep Bar, Harbour Galley, Royal Street Verandah, Cafe Orleans and the one-of-a-kind Blue Bayou Restaurant.
Then the party really sets sail Friday, March 17, and on the attraction’s official anniversary, March 18. Guests will find pirate-themed entertainment throughout New Orleans Square by the likes of Bootstrappers and Lucky the Pirate. They can also plunder limited-edition anniversary merchandise, available in New Orleans Square while supplies last. And ye landlubbers who wish ter talk like a pirate – aye, ye’ll getcher chance … with pirate speak collectible cards. And stay sharp, because there will be even more to discover!
Since its March 18, 1967, debut, Pirates of the Caribbean has become a Disneyland park classic and fan favorite. This iconic attraction has gone on to pillage and plunder at Disney Parks around the world, with Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and most recently, the award-winning Pirates of the Caribbean – Battle for the Sunken Treasure at Shanghai Disney Resort.

Will Disney restock the steins and when will it be available again?
For those who posted wondering if past this wknd (re: Sat.) – no. Second, steins are gone already. 15 min into park opening is report. Ride broke down this morning so closed again.
This is an odd question, but when does this end, I know the merch is as supplies last, but for those of us traveling later in the year, will the celebration be going on through to august?
Does that mean the ride is open again this weekend?
I was wondering if you could clarify something. The text above in your note seems to say that merchandise will be available on the 17th and 18th – as well as the collectible cards. The press release from the resort states that Merchandise will be available on the 18th. Can we get a clarification? Thanks – this is my favorite attraction for the legacy it provided and the adventure it brings.

Happy Anniversary Pirates! This attraction has long been my favorite ever since I was a little girl. We always go on it first when we hit the park, its been a long time tradition! The Pirates rides across the world are all spectacular!
the Pirates celebration will only be for this weekend for the anniversary of the ride. Starts off on Thursday and goes on until Sunday.

Wow, amazing that a fantastic and innovative dark ride like Pirates is already 50 years old! Very cool that it opened right in the hippie era of the 1960s.

So super excited! This is my fav ride at dland! So can you please clarify which day all the merchandise is out because that’s the day I HAVE to be there. Does all merchandise come out on Thursday or just the pins?
Ok. Several others have asked…but I’ll ask yet again. Will this celebration continue past this weekend? I am arriving with my family Monday, the 20th. “Pirates” is one of the family’s absolute faves!!!

Will the attraction itself be open? When I was there Friday it was closed for refurbishment.
How long will the celebration last?
Will the ride be open again by the 17th? It will be a pretty sad celebration if the ride is still undergoing refurbishment.

Sounds like it will be a lot of fun! Sad I won’t be able to celebrate it there this weekend, but I will be down in May for the World Premiere of Pirates 5! I’m excited to hear the announcement on it hopefully sooner than later!
