This fall, MagicBand+ will make its momentous debut at Disneyland Resort, bringing the wearable technology to the West Coast for the first time! Today, I’m excited to share how this innovation will deliver hands-free convenience and unlock a new dimension of Disney storytelling.

Launched at Walt Disney World Resort earlier this summer, MagicBand+ is a next-generation wearable that enables you to see and feel park experiences in a new way, thanks to smart features like color-changing LED lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition. Available in a growing assortment of designs and colors, MagicBand+ offers another opportunity to show off your personal style in the parks. It’s also rechargeable (with the included charging cable) and waterproof, keeping the fun going and going! When MagicBand+ is paired to a smartphone device through the Disneyland app*, it unlocks personalization options such as selecting unique light colors and adjusting the vibration and motion recognition settings.

MagicBand+ features and experiences will vary between Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Here’s a glimpse of it in action at Disneyland Resort!

At launch, this wearable will boast a host of convenient capabilities – with more to come in the future! Connect your MagicBand+ to your theme park ticket or Magic Key pass in the Disneyland app for an easy way to enter the Disneyland Resort theme parks (valid Park admission and reservation required), or use it to check in at Lightning Lane entrances (separate valid Lightning Lane entry required). After capturing precious memories with a Disney PhotoPass photographer, a tap of your band links the photos to your Disney account.

MagicBand+ also adds new, immersive elements and surprises to park experiences. In sync with special moments during select nighttime spectaculars, your band will complement the magic in the skies by pulsing with colorful, dancing lights and vibrations.

MagicBand+ will come to life during “World of Color” in Disney California Adventure park and “Fantasmic!” and select nighttime shows in Disneyland park.

You’ll also be able to explore Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland park like never before with the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. Vibrations and lights from your MagicBand+ will help guide you to find virtual bounties across Black Spire Outpost. When you find your bounty, you can use the augmented reality thermal viewer in the Play Disney Parks app** to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows. Once your mission is successfully completed, local guild master Raga Bua will reward you with galactic credits.

And this is just the beginning – there are more MagicBand+ features and experiences still to come! Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more updates and announcement of our official launch date.

Both a Theme Park reservation and valid admission for the same Park on the same date are required for Park entry. Park reservations are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed. Offerings may be limited in availability, and are subject to restrictions, and change or cancellation without notice. Lightning Lane entrance arrival windows require a separate purchase. Visit Disneyland.com/Updates for important information to know before visiting.

Online registration and Disney account required to use MagicBand+ and Disney Photopass® service. Disney Photopass® service is subject to the Disney Photopass Terms & Conditions and expiration policy found at https://disneyland.disney.go.com/photopass-terms-conditions/.  MagicBand and MagicBand 2 will not be supported at Disneyland Resort at this time.

Comments

  • Does it do anything else like tell you the time?

  • Like many posters, my family has magic bands from WDW and it would be very upsetting if they are not compatible with Disneyland. More money.

  • Stop saying Fall and give a date already!

  • Would be nice if they said a date instead of Fall!

  • Hope it will be available for our December trip!

  • Can’t wait!

  • In WDW, you can add Magicband+ onto your hotel reservation. Will this also be an option in Disneyland?

  • I LOVE the Magic Bands! I’m very excited they are finally coming to DLR. For the naysayers, just buy one and try it. You’ll love it!

  • The band’s cost anywhere from $20 to $50. You don’t have to use the bands if you don’t want to you are phones do most of it It is just more convenient to be on your wrist The only thing your phone won’t do is open your door at a hotel if you get the wristband the one you want is the magic band plus because it has a rechargeable battery although they said the original would last for a couple years

  • How much will these magic bands cost?

  • I am very sorry to see this in the disclaimer area: “MagicBand and MagicBand 2 will not be supported at Disneyland Resort at this time.” My family has magicbands from a trip to WDW in 2021 and, while I like them because they help you save your phone battery, I don’t want to have to purchase magicband+ just for haptics and games in which we are not interested. Is this restriction to magicband+ only definite or will the parks allow the other/older magicbands in future? If not, how dissappointing. Just another Disney money grab.

  • Weill these Magic Band be pre-ordered and will we be able to customize the look?

  • Magic bands are horrible I am very sad they will be coming to DLR.

  • We are coming to the resort and stay on property as well as visiting both parks. Will we need this to access our rooms and the parks by then or will our phones still be the way to go?

  • Is this available for pre purchase for claiming 20Nov2022? Anaheim?

  • Welcome to the blog Ms. Jessica!

  • Define Fall, please!

  • We are going the first week of November. Don’t want to spend the money to buy them if we won’t be able to use them at that time.

  • You have to buy a new band because allowing a free smart watch application would cost Disney the amount we will have to pay for the plastic bracelet. So magical

  • Wish they’d post the date! Coming to DL in October and would love to have them up and ready by then! But more likely it will be in November sometime.

  • Why not allow loading onto smart phones and Wear OS?

  • If you have a magic band from WDW will it work? Or do you have to purchases a new one for DIsney resort?
