Just hours ago, guests from around the world attended a special event to celebrate the grand opening of World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort!

The royal gates will open to the world’s first Frozen-themed land on Nov. 20, complete with two attractions, Frozen Ever After and Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs, dining, shopping, plus a first-of-its-kind theatrical experience with Anna and Elsa.

Prior to today’s historical moment, the incredible cast members at Hong Kong Disneyland had a chance to experience the land. With a total of 11 #DisneyCastLife previews, cast explored the land, enjoying a boat ride to the North Mountain on Frozen Ever After, traversing through the forest on Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and even trying the new eats over at Golden Crocus Inn. The magic and joy only exists because of the wonderful cast and this one-of-a-kind experience was the perfect way to thank them.

Today’s very special occasion was what we like to call a “big celebration blowout,” filled with fireworks, drones, and even surprise guests Anna, Elsa and all their friends.

The fun took place in the center of Arendelle with Oaken and Kristoff kicking off the evening alongside the Hong Kong Disneyland Ambassadors. Not only were there many citizens of Arendelle in attendance, special guests also included: Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences, Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman, Disney Entertainment, and Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Oscar-winning writer/director of “Frozen” and “Frozen 2.”

Bob shared, “The Frozen franchise is one of the most successful in Disney history and it’s a testament to the power of great storytelling, which is the foundation of The Walt Disney Company. It’s been this way for 100 years, and our commitment to storytelling and creativity will continue to define our next 100.”

The arrival of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland is quite a special moment. “Our Imagineers worked with Jenn’s team at Disney Animation to ensure every detail is just right. World of Frozen transports you to another world, where you can have fun with your loved ones and make some incredible memories together.” Josh added.

Of course, what’s a Frozen celebration without some ice magic? The evening ended with Elsa summoning our favorite snowman, Olaf, and Anna proclaiming the gates of Arendelle officially opening.

Magic truly filled the air with a spectacular fleet of drones taking center stage in the sky and forming iconic images inspired by beloved movies. Intricate patterns mirroring Elsa’s ice magic left everyone with excitement at the world’s FIRST EVER Frozen-themed land!

  • Where’s Sven??? Everything is lovely but where’s the most famous reindeer of all? Glad to see him featured in Frozen Ever After, even though he’s depicted as needing a CARROT to motivate him to help out when everyone knows that Sven is always up for any adventure without any incentive (although yes, he sure likes carrots). Of course, he’s not jealous of Olaf, Oaken, Marshmallow, the trolls and even the Snowgies getting their own food items and merchandise–Sven’s happy for all his supporting cast friends. But as a Sven devotee and collector, I must protest on his behalf. I mean, reindeers ARE better than people, as everyone knows. Let’s shake our harness for Sven!
