Vinylmation Creation Station

A key part of the Vinylmation experience is creative expression. We want our Guests to express their creativity using the blank Create-Your-Own Vinylmation we offer. So, I am particularly excited to announce a destination for Vinylmation creativity – a specially designed “Vinylmation Creation Station” in D-Street at Downtown Disney WestSide in Florida.

The table being used for this Create-Your-Own Station will measure approximately 6’ by 6’ (now that’s a big table!). Under the glass table top, Guests will see a variety of Vinylmation 3” figures arranged to make a stunning backdrop for creative expression. Any guesses as to how many figures were used? I’ll tell you at the end of this article.

Vinylmation Creation Station

I’ve discussed before on the Disney Parks Blog some ways in which you can create your own unique Vinylmation masterpiece. With this new station, Guests will be able to create something before leaving the new Vinylmation mothership, D-Street.

Once a blank Vinylmation is purchased (they are offered in a variety of colors and sizes), Guests can stop by the Vinylmation Creation Station. Then it is “go crazy time” — draw on it, have friends and family sign it, keep track of the places you visit during your Disney vacation. Express your “inner Vinylmation” however you see fit. Seriously, it is pretty easy to do. Check out this creation that Donald Ferro, developer for Vinylmation made, using a white Vinylmation 3” figure and some eyes.

Create-Your-Own Vinylmation

In the months to come, you will find a variety of stickers, gems and other items to use for decorating your blank Vinylmation. We are even working on some “pre-designed” Vinylmation figure that will have designs printed on the figures (imagine a giant 3-D coloring book).

Create-Your-Own Vinylmation

If the three-dimensional form is a little intimidating to start, you can download a blank two-dimensional template on Vinylmation.com (templates are in .PDF format). They are a great way to practice your skills.

I can’t wait to have my son make a unique Vinylmation at this station. He has always loved making masks at KidCot in Epcot so I’m sure he’ll love this area. And if Donald can make one, perhaps I should try too (most likely mine will look like something from “Tron” or maybe “Condorman”).

Oh, the number of Vinylmation 3” figures used in the table … 782. Did you guess correctly?

  • Thanks for the heads-up on the online exclusive “10/6” Vinylmation. I guess I would be “mad” not to buy one!!

  • Where can you purchase the vinylmation forms in the park? And when does the creation station expect to open? I’m going to Disney next week & can hardly wait!

    • Lana,
The Vinylmation Creation Station is currently open at D-Street at Downtown Disney WestSide in Florida. We opened it on April 3 during the soft opening, and it has been exteremly popular!

You should make that location your first stop for Vinylmation. Yet, there are MANY merchandise locations that carry Vinylmation in Parks & Resorts in Florida and California.

      Have a safe trip!

  • I am curious about something. We have the little vinyl window stickers with the family wearing mouse ears on. One for each of us and our dog. Does Disney make these same vinyl stickers with a horse wearing mouse ears by any chance?

  • Thank you Steven and crew for creating such an awesome creative experience for others to share. Being creative is the spark that drives this great world into many wonderful inventions we have seen over time. I can’t wait to visit and make one of my creations at this table.

  • This will be a great memento of my first trip to WDW, my grandson and I were already talking about getting a blank figure to make a tribute to our vacation, now we will have even more fun
and options . He is 5 years old and for Christmass got me a Cutester for my ” Disney ” room, we was so proud of his gift and I love it!

  • I can’t wait to come visit! I wish I could get a table like that in my house, how awesome!

  • Any news on the Park 4 Series 9″ Sci-Fi Diner figure?

    • Lauren –
We are targeting a May release. We will post release information on http://www.Vinylmation.com as soon as we know more. Darn aliens! 🙂

  • I’m so glad this has ‘taken off’ & you are expanding Vinylmation beyond just collecting! I love being creative with the blank figures & using all sorts of embelishments. Any chance of the ‘Creation Station’ on the west coast???

    • Christian,
I’m so glad you are enjoying the create-your-own experience. I finished photographing the one-of-a-kind figures created by Disney Design Group Artists that will be released at the D-Street grand opening in Florida on April 16.

Here is a sneak peek: http://eventservices.disney.go.com/static/vinylmation/blog.html#20100415

I can’t put into words how amazing they look. The DDG team really stepped up their game, and I think Vinylmation fans will love them.

We would love to have a Creation Station in California. We are currently reviewing options but no definite plans at this time. Hope it won’t stop you, however, from expressing your creativity.

  • That is GREAT! I love collecting and trading pins, but now I love Vinylmation even more. Not only can you collect pieces created by the fantastic Disney Design Group, but also you can create your own unique masterpieces. What a great hobby!!

By the way, thank you for listing some of the 9″ vinyls at DisneyStore.com for those of us who can’t get to the parks as often as we would like. Please do more online exclusives like the Enchanted Tiki Room piece!

    • Brian,
You will continue to find select Vinylmation 9″ Figures and many other Vinylmation items on http://www.DisneyParks.com/Store

And yes, there will be additional on-line exclusive figures. I know one that is coming at some point in 2010 has something to do with “10/6” … but I can’t remember exactly [grin].
