What’s Your Favorite New Taste at Disney California Adventure Park?

What fun to finally see the beautiful new restaurants in action at Disney California Adventure park! Wandering down Buena Vista Street and through Cars Land, we found plenty of new favorites:

    “Turkey

  • While the roast beef is the signature sammie at Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café, we went back twice for the hot turkey reuben with sauerkraut on whole-grain bread. The pastrami is housemade, with a whole lot less fat than the traditional beef version. Yum! And it’s the place for Starbucks drinks – try the chai latte with a shot of espresso to start your day.
  • “Pork “Cherry
  • At Flo’s V8 Café in Cars Land, we’ll order anything with the verde sauce, delicious on the breakfast tamale with scrambled eggs. But we’re fans of the veggie tater bake and the pork loin with a sweet Coca-Cola barbecue sauce. You can always get one of each and share for a balance of healthful and indulgent. Add a mini fruit or chocolate pie, just enough.
  • “Flavored “Chicken
  • At Cozy Cone Motel, everyone was clamoring for the adorable cone drinks, but we were enamored with the dill pickle popcorn with a subtle zing of dill. Cozy Cone 3 has two edible cones with the taste and texture of pretzels – our favorite was the chicken verde (again with the delish green sauce) and topped with a sprinkle of queso fresco. So easy to walk and nosh!
  • “Lobster “Halibut
    “Firecracker “Toasted
  • And we saved the best for last, our divine dinner at Carthay Circle Restaurant. We started with a handcrafted cocktail downstairs in the lounge and a nibble of the cool lobster pad thai roll. Heading upstairs to the glamorous dining room, don’t miss the fried biscuits stuffed with white cheddar, bacon and jalapeño with apricot-honey butter. But our favorite appetizer was the halibut ceviche with buttery avocado and a side of crispy plaintains. Next, we dove into the bowl of firecracker duck wings that we dipped in the soy, lime and chili sauce. For an entrée, our server recommended the bacon-wrapped shrimp on summer roasted corn with grilled zucchini and basil salsa – a satisfying combo with the rich bacon and light, fresh veggies. Of course we had to try the toasted lemon pound cake with blueberries and lemon curd cream, worth every calorie.

  • One of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory was at the Carthay Circle! The lamb and pork roast were both amazing, as were the specialty cocktails. My vegetarian boyfriend (who is also a picky eater) often has trouble with the limited menus offered in nicer restaurants, but the Chef was happy to work with him and created a specialty pasta dish tailored to his tastes that he absolutely loved! The meal was definitely a highlight of our trip! I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how stunningly gorgeous the interior was, and how amazing all of the staff was as well.

  • We loved the Dill Pickle Popcorn and the Chili “Cone” Carne! Can’t wait to try more yummy stuff next time!

  • Wow! With all of these great new offerings, it’s sounding like a 3-day ticket won’t be enough to eat my way around the resort!

  • Are any of these restaurants allergy friendly? Specifically for kids with an allergy to nuts and dairy?

    • All the Disney restaurants are happy to suggest menu items for guests with allergies. Just ask before you order at quick-service locations; at table service locations, talk with your server or ask for the chef.

  • And don’t forget the best hot fudge sundae this side of San Francisco. Now we have our own Ghirardelli’s at DCA.

  • The brioche French Toast drizzled (should I say drenched?) with caramel and topped with bananas at Flo’s V8 is an excellent breakfast!

  • We can’t wait to eat at the Carthay Circle this summer! Just wondering if there is there a child’s menu available there?

    • Yes, there is a child’s menu, with pasta, mini-tacos, beef filet, fresh fish and more.

  • I LOVED the brioche french toast at Flos. So yummy. That apple cheddar pie was good too. I tried the pickle popcorn and it was ok. I would need to be in the mood for it. The hand dipped icecream bar at Clarabelle’s was delicious. I need to try that chille chicken verde though. I hear it is amazing. Next time!

  • So many good things to eat these days at Disney California Adventure. While I’ve enjoyed the Chili Cone Queso at Cozy Cones, the Veggie Tater Bake at Flo’s and the Halibut Ceviche at Carthay Circle, I think my favorite thing I’ve had so far are the Duck Confit Sliders at the Carthay Circle LOUNGE! OMG! HEAVEN!

  • I had the Salami with olive tapenade sandwich at FF&P and it was just as good as I expected it to be which was SO GOOD! The food at Flo’s was really good too!

  • We loved the mini mousse cones at the Carthay Circle Restaurant! And the chicken verde chili cone was good too. One daughter loved the cheese & bacon popcorn cone. The other thought that the pretzel bite in the cone were fantastic!

  • The Chicken Verde cone was really good – tried it at the Annual Passholder preview. Looking forward to enjoying Carthay Circle Restaurant in early September. The hand-dipped ice cream bar was a great new treat as well!

  • The pork loin with Coca-Cola sauce was really really good. I would recommend it. Also the service at Flo’s is amazingly fast. Oh and the sides were excellent as well.

  • So far, the biscuits at Carthay Circle…Those were great (as was the entire meal).

But there are so many that there’s no way to have tried them all yet, so who knows?
